BROWNVILLE – Allan R. McLean, 81, husband of Lillian E. (Pray) McLean, died March 4, 2012, at his home. He was born July 7, 1930, in Brownville Junction, son of Lloyd and Ellen (Doyle) MacLean.
Allan was a graduate of Brownville Junction High School before entering a career with the Canadian Pacific Railroad as an engineer for more than 40 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served from 1952-1954. Allan was proud to be a lifetime member of United Transportation Union. He enjoyed playing pool and, working and being outside. He especially enjoyed taking his grandson, Travis, hunting and fishing. Allan enjoyed many great times spent with his special granddaughter, P.A. – Pet Andrea.
In addition to his loving wife, Lillian, Allan is survived by a daughter, Janet McSorley and her husband, Perry, of Brownville Junction; granddaughter, Andrea Green and her husband, Butch, of Sebec; grandson, Travis McSorley and his significant other, Cami High, of Milo; two great-grandsons, Triston Green and Hunter McSorley; mother-in-law, Liona Speed of Brownville; brother, Gerald MacLean and his wife, Mary, of Bangor; sister-in-law, Cookie Farrar of Brownville; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Annie Graves; and two brothers-in-law, Henry Graves and Vaughn Farrar. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Pine Tree Hospice for all of their care and support.
Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Lary Funeral Home, Milo, where a funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, with the Rev. Stephen Dean officiating. Spring burial will be in the family lot at Pine Tree Cemetery, Brownville Junction. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Pine Tree Hospice, 883 West Main St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426.
