ROBBINSTON – Jacqueline Madeline Griffin, 87, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012, at Atlantic Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Calais. Jacqueline was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Robbinston, daughter of the late William and Madeline (Johnson) Taylor.

In 1947 she married Frank Griffin. Jacqueline worked in the sardine factories in Robbinston during the summers, as well as many years in housekeeping for Maine Medical Center, Portland; Barnard’s Nursing Home, Calais; and Calais Regional Hospital. She was a member of Sewell Congregational Church, Robbinston.

In addition to her parents, Jacqueline was predeceased by her husband, Frank, in 1984; son, Robert Gerard Diffin; three sisters, Phyllis Taylor, Marguerite Trott and Bertha Lee; and brother, Buddy Taylor and his wife, Milly. Surviving are her two daughters, Charlene Welch and her husband, Robert, of Emmett, Idaho, and Mavis Warren and her husband, Darrell, of Calais; sister, Dora DiRenzo and her husband, John, of Westbrook; brother, William Taylor and his wife, Susan, of Galivants Ferry, S.C.; grandchildren, Robert Merrill and his wife, Elizabeth, of Robbinston, Brenda Sax of Calais, Timothy Avery and his wife, Amy, of Pembroke, James Avery and his wife, Sheila, of Perry, Renee Leavitt and her husband, Wayne, of Robbinston, William Warren and his companion, Carmella, of Red Beach, Darylann Warren of Calais and Gerard Warren and his wife, Maria Lynda, of Warner-Robbins, Ga.; 17 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, with her 11th great-great-grandchild due this summer; many nieces and nephews; and a very special niece, Linda Gordon and her husband, Bob, of Meddybemps.

Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, where a celebration of Jacqueline’s life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating. Burial will be afterward at Brewer Cemetery, Robbinston. Condolences and memories may be shared at
