PORTLAND, Maine — The trial of a Windham man charged with sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl has started.
Nicholas Gladu’s trial on 68 charges including unlawful sexual contact and sexual exploitation of a minor started Monday in Cumberland County Superior Court in Portland.
The prosecutors said in opening statements that the 27-year-old Gladu sexually assaulted the girl between August and October of 2010 and that photographic evidence found on a digital camera card will be shown to the jury.
WMTW-TV reports that Gladu’s lawyer said the defendant has a history of mental illness and mental problems that affected his ability to determine right from wrong. Gladu has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
The child was only 4 years old??? This SICKO will get whats coming to him in prison.
Sad but he won’t. He will be kept in segregation for his protection and that’s TOO BAD!!!!

Sicking. Also what makes me sick is his lawyer trying to use the insanity defense. “he doesn’t know right from wrong” Most two year olds know right from wrong. I hope that they offer therapy for the Jury having to be shown images like that. And I pray the baby will not remember the horrific ordeal she wen’t through, but more than likely she will develop some sort of issues from her ordeal.
Why do we waste money and time having a trial for someone like this. The taxpayer has to now house and feed this foul waste. He should have been thrown out and turned into compost.

As I stated in a previous artical about this issue, The innocence of babies and children are being exploited moment by moment by sexual perversion and abuse. What a sick, sick monstrous people this world has in it and the lawyers want to defend and say mental illness at every turn and the courts go for it. Even if it was mental illness all the more reason to rid society of these so called human beings. We ask how to help end these horrific animals and I repeat; animals not humans from our planet: First of all, if these animals are found to be involved with any form of child exploitation, we as a country need to stop being so weak-minded and think they have any rights. They have lost their rights to the human race the moment they let their sick minds take advantage of the innocence. We are so very quick to make sure every word spoken today is politically correct that we in the United States have become fools of our own making. No wonder our jails are full because we feed, provide clothes and keep all the monsters warm in a bed. God forbid we allow them near other inmates because they are smart enough to know they are vile and should be allow giving them their due, but no, because we are supposedly so human we protect the monsters. It is time to protect our children not the monsters. We should support any and every program to make sure these animals are found, castrated and placed with the other inmates, why should we protect those animals? Our court system, judges, lawyers, representatives need to care more about this issue instead of what political party is going to move them forward in their careers. A human with any morel fiber to their person would want the children protected at all cost not the savage animal that hurt the child. Yes as an American citizen everyone has a right to a fair trial, I know we hear it day in and day out but the pendulum as gone to far and we protect the animals/criminals. Any person that holds a position of any kind within our legal system should be fighting for extreme and harsher punishments to anyone who sexually exploits the innocence of our children! Bring back the death penalty and rid this plague from society these are savage animal not humans.

Defense lawyers for this type of crime must have trouble sleeping, or when looking at their own children, they must wonder why they defend these scumbag predators. Insanity defense should not even be thought of when this type of crime occurs–he knew exactly what he was doing, evidently. If Gladu had mental problems, then adults around him should not have allowed him to be alone with any child.
