ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Grace G. Hebberd, 89, passed away peacefully Feb. 28, 2012, at the Samantha Wilson Care Center – Bay View. Born Grace Louella Garrison, Jan. 15, 1923, in Monticello, to George H. Garrison Jr. and Bertha L. Bubar, she was the ninth of 10 children and the last surviving member.

She married Nathan C. Hebberd in 1940 and they celebrated 67 years in 2007. She started her marriage with her husband being away for three years in World War II, and after 67 years they were again separated for three years. Now they are together again. Grace worked for several years for WT Grant Co., Augusta. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, making teddy bears and cooking. Nate and Grace began commuting between Maine and Florida in 1977, eventually moving full time to Clearwater, Fla., in 1992. Grace was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always had a smile for everyone.

She was predeceased by her husband; and son, Nathan Jr. Grace is survived by her daughter, Dawn Hebberd Murati and her husband, George Murati, of St. Augustine, Fla.; and two grandsons, James Murati of Cape Canaveral, Fla., and Nathan “Andy” Murati of Cedar Park, Texas. Andy is married to Courtney Schoolcraft Murati and they have two children, Elyssa Grace and Andrew Dixon “Drew.”

There will be a memorial Mass 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church with Father Terry Morgan officiating. No flowers, however, charitable donations for breast cancer research would be appreciated. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
