HOULTON – Phyllis London Burtt Peabody, R.N., 95, died March 8, 2012, at a local health care facility. She was born Sept. 17, 1916, in Hodgdon, the daughter of Herbert and Irene (MacDougal) London.
Phyllis was a graduate of Hodgdon High School and Aroostook General Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She was employed by Aroostook General Hospital and as an office nurse for Dr. John Madigan and Dr. Ted Sussman.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, M. Jean Lynch and her husband, John “Jac,” of Pittsfield; three grandchildren, James Lynch and his wife, Risa, Suzanne Guild and her husband, Donald, and Michael Lynch and his wife, Mareshah; six great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, many very special nieces and nephews; and four stepchildren, Walter Peabody, Jaye Peabody, Marlynn London and Mary Sue Jackson, and their families. She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved son, Richard Burtt, in 1967; her first husband, Walter Burtt, in 1975; her second husband, Ralph Peabody, in 1994; two sisters, Dorothy McKay and Merle Lee; three brothers, Earl London, Guy London and Herbert “Bud” London; and stepson, Thornton Peabody. A special thank you to Dr. Sussman, his staff and Phyllis’ caregivers at Madigan Estates for all their loving care.
