WASHINGTON — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he feels confident Democrats will retain control of the Senate this fall, particularly after the recent announcements that Maine Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe would not seek re-election and that Democrat Bob Kerrey would run in Nebraska.
Reid told CNN “State of the Union” that his conversations with Kerrey concerning a possible run extended over several months. Reid said he didn’t make any promises to get Kerrey to run, including committee assignments.
Reid also said he was OK with the decision by President Barack Obama’s campaign team not to help finance Democratic congressional campaigns.

Harry didn’t make any pronises? Harry is right below
Obama for telling fibs and keeping a straight face.
It gives us more reason to throw a wrench into Obama-Pelosi-Reid agenda come November. These folks will have our country headed to total socialism , with more credit downgrads and head to complete bankruptcy if these folks have total control in Washington. If they win total control we are DOOMED!!.
“total control” is exactly what you want DK! Get over yourself, Hitler did the same thing and he took the pansy way out.
You know what I want is the Socialism and the handouts to Welfare Bums ended. Getting rid of Obama and Democrats will end that practice. Something you and the rest don’t want to end. Could it be you folks collect government checks you live off of everyone’s tax dollars including mine. That is why you want these idiots still in office. Well you better not get too overconfident Nobama can’t even get over 50% in any of the approval ratings with the majority wanting someone else in office. Because most of America wants anyone but Obama trust me any Republican or anyone who runs as a Third Party candidate is alot better than the current person occupying the White House. Obama is like Democrats here in Maine all they care about is appeasing their voting block by buying votes to keep Him along with Dems into office. None of these Dems have done anything to get America and the economy in America moving foward. They are worthless they can’t even get Obama’s budget passed. Because everyone knows its a stinker that it would put us futher in debt and on the path to complete socialism.
Should have pushed better candidates then. Romney and Santorum aren’t going to cut it.
Santorum and Romney still can beat the Emperor hands down. You are forgetting Obama is not popular to the majority. He is only popular with Liberals and even then he doesn’t excite folks who have donated to him in the past to donate to his campaign. Donations to his re-election campaign is down way down compared to 4 years ago. How’s that Hope and Change Working for YOU?.. Because the rest of us want to send it back to Chicago where it belongs. We will pay for the U-Hauls and the Mayflower moving trucks to help Obama leave before January 20th, 2013.
Hope and change has worked very well for me – how about opening your eyes and joining the 21st century?
The sky is falling. The sky is falling.
Wait till the rest of the 53% ers hear that Gay Marriage is back on the ballot and when they come out in full force to vote on November 6th. The Liberals will be wishing we don’t show up LOL we are engerized now thanks to Special Rights for 4%. Because it will be misery for them when we not only vote it down again and clean the rest of the Democrats out of Augusta and elect Rick Bennett or Bill Schneider for U.S. Senate. Then who will the sky be falling on LOL Democrats that’s who. The Liberals in Maine will be crying till 2014.
Sorry but the people will speak in November – out with the anachronistic and irrelevant GOP and into the 21st century. I also predict a return of the House to the Democratic Party leadership and we can as a nation move forward again. I can only hope that we can begin looking to nationalize the oil industry and banks so once again the economy is stabilized; and take care of our less fortunate citizens in these desperate economic times.
Romney holds all records for lying with a staight face. Just ask all the other Rebublicans in the Presidential race. The President and Reid aren’t even in competition with Willard Mittens.
Harry Reid, that’s a bet I’ll take. Your whistling past the graveyard.
And the good news for the Democratic Party just keeps rolling in. Makes one wonder what dirty tactics the GOP/Tea Party will use to cling to the power and influence they managed to attain in the last election cycle? I’m going for attempting to downgrade our improving economic and job numbers in any way possible and when that fails go to their old standby, game the voting process. New election, same old, same old.
Hmm. That sounds like a page right out of the Democratic Party’s playbook.
First we have to have improving economic and job numbers and not the made up left wing media propoganda. I’m pretty sure the rising fuel costs over the next eight months will take are of Obama not to mentions Reids plan to retain control of the Senate despite how much the left wing media attempts of keep us confused by focusing on other topics.
the gas pumps and the price of home heating oil, seems to be expanding also. Not in the right direction.
I am not a Republican, I do not watch Fox News. I can assure you that the democrats are just as bad, if not worse than you are claiming the republicans to be. My point? Don’t let your personal biases get in the way of your objectivity. Ask yourself, are job numbers really improving like they should be, are they really that great? Is the economy really recovering like it could or should be?
I think you will find that the answer to both of those questions is no. Is it Obamas fault? Is it the democrats fault? Not necessarily. But clearly massive deficit inducing Keynesian stimulus spending doesn’t seem to have much of an effect if any at all on jobs and the economy, so maybe that’s not the answer?
I think you need to put down the kool-aid and stop watching MSNBC, CNN , Current/Al Gore TV, PBS/NPR and the Nightly News. Get with reality you blame LePage and Republicans here in Maine for the problems the Democrats created for the last 40 years. How can someone fix 40 years of problems in 14+ months. You also blame Republicans in Washington for the problems now. But who has not passed a budget recently and won’t pass this current budget because of how unpopular it is Obama and the Democrats. Who has bailed out Big Banks, Wall Street, Car Companies, Ethanol Companies, Clean Energy companies which led to the Solyndra debacle, Chellie Pingree’s Multi-Billionaire Husband, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Who’s Stimulus Bill failed. Who caused the credit ratings to drop. It certainally isn’t John Boehner and the Republicans. They have been calling for cuts, cap on spending, reforming programs to slow the growth in them. Obama’s new budget already creates a 1 trillion dollar hole and the thing isn’t even into effect. It goes to show you Democrats, Obama have no intentions of fixing the mess that we are under. They want us to become bankrupt with everyone getting handouts or headed to Greece so far in debt, with massive government control that we will never get into the positive.
It is good news but I wouldn’t count on the “same old.”
I’m betting the Tea Party neo-cons will slip away and morph
into another All American band of something, that’s if they already haven’t.
I’ve come to realize that the extreme isn’t going away they
will continue to try to create the world in their own vision and bend public
opinion to support their aggressive mentality. Many have under estimated them on
every step. They are well-organized and have in place a “well-oiled” propaganda
machine.
The GOP is a mess. They made a mistake with this group, instead
of being absorbed into the GOP they became the GOP. There is only one way to beat extreme – by staying involved in our democratic process. I think a lot of people were asleep
in 2010, in 2012, the sleepers are awake!
Interesting, so this is about party, not what is best for America.
Not surprising when both parties would happily let the ship sink rather than let the other team get credit for fixing it.
Does Harry Reid still refer to Obama as “light-skinned” and speaks with “no negro dialect unless he wanted to have one”?
As racist as Democrats Robert Byrd and Jefferson Davis.
This is the primary reason not to vote for Angus King. Harry Reid hasn’t passed a budget in 1,000 days and shouldn’t be a leader of the senate. You know Angus won’t support Mitch McConnell. He has run the Senate since 2007, the year that the deficits started on their current unsustainable path.
GOP’s exuberance is turning into a nightmare. With their fledgling presidential candidates bent on destroying each other before the primary contest is over, I wonder where this party is headed come November.
Riding into the sunset forever one can only hope!
Well! That may be Reid’s opinion, look at the senate now and one can easily tell
that Reid doesn’t know very much…
