SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — A fundraising appearance by President Barack Obama scheduled for later this month has been moved to accommodate more supporters.

The event on Friday, March 30, now will be held at the Hutchinson Union Building gymnasium on the Southern Maine Community College campus.

General admission tickets to hear the president speak start at $100, but there will be a limited number of $44 tickets available for students. Doors will open at 3 p.m.

Anyone interested in attending can email ObamaMaineReception2012@gmail.com to request additional information.

Obama, who is running for re-election this fall, also is expected to attend a private fundraiser the same day, the Maine Democratic Party announced last month.

The president was last in Maine in July 2010, when he and his family spent several days vacationing on Mount Desert Island. Obama also came to the Portland Expo in April 2010 to tout his health care legislation.

Before that, he visited Bangor in February 2008 when he was vying for his party’s nomination. Obama ended up getting the nomination and then won 58 percent of the vote in Maine to Republican John McCain’s 40 percent.

First lady Michelle Obama participated in a pair of private re-election fundraisers in Maine last year. One was at the Ocean Gateway terminal in Portland and another at a private home in Cape Elizabeth.

  1. I hope Mr. LePage doesn’t show up (Like that nasty woman in Arizona) looking for a photo opt by wagging a finger at the President when he lands at the airport. Given that Paulie once said he’d tell the President to kiss his backside it might prove difficult for the President not to tell him what to do with such finger.

    1. That “nasty” woman didn’t “show up” anywhere. You clearly have no idea what you’re referring to. President Obama flew to Arizona to specifically talk with Gov. Brewer. Her instructions were to meet him on the landing strip. He walked off the plane and immediately confronted her about not writing “cordial” words about him in her recent book. That’s the real context of that conversation. The President supposedly flew to Arizona to discuss pressing political decisions but rather starts the conversation off on his favorite topic– himself!

      1. Oh yes, Jan is such a lovely and kind hearted lady, fer sure.  Got all them foreigners carrying papers now don’t cha know. There was a time in America when no one would dare defend anyone sticking a finger in our President’s face much less trying to talk over him. Today it appears that even the nastiest among us can find “some” supporters. Whether you’re version of events is true or not, any normal person would have met the President or the Presidents remarks with a graceful smile. But not this gal, her response much like your’s was pitiful and shameful.

        1.  In 2008, one could be excused for being all enthusiastic over Obama… In 2012? It indicates one is impervious to reason. My sympathies.

        2. The President is no more of a citizen than me, you, or Jan Brewer. He is no more protected from criticism than anyone else- thank goodness! I know plenty of people that would raise a finger at President Obama (and probably not the finger Jan chose). I know plenty of people who would do the same to President Bush. That’s how this country works. We express criticism in order to prevent abuses of power. Jan Brewer has every right to show disapproval with President Obama’s actions– just like he chose to express his disapproval of her book. If you think every citizen should smile sweetly at our President at all times, you’re in the wrong country.

          1. Now you’ve changed the subject to fit your rant. No one suggested that YOU can’t criticize ANYONE you like. Nor did anyone say the President of the U. S. is any more a citizen than anyone else.

What I did say is that anyone who points anything in any U.S. President’s face or talks over his words is clearly a rude and nasty person. One that deserves no respect from anyone. Now I’ll add that anyone who does such things or supports such actions probably also doesn’t deserve to be called an American.

          2. You have no idea what you are talking about, you were called on it and then you switched the subject, Why is it ok for you to switch the subject when it isn’t ok for someone else to do so?
The president started the argument, the picture that was taken was taken well into the argument and the governor was being berated by a man about twice her size, if the “finger wagging” is the worst that baffon got, he got away easy.

          3. Ya know what? Look at the picture, neither you nor I know what was said. They both ‘played  to their party.  How about we talk about something we actually know to be true.
Matter a fact, how about discussing issues??

          4. Agreed. We don’t know what was said. Was that something I brought up? Nope. But what we should know for sure is that you don’t for any reason stick your finger in the American President’s face. That surely was a mistake that should not be repeated by anyone nor revered by anyone. That’s been my point, do you wish to disagree?

          5. Personally, I see lots being said by all kinds of people that don’t think before they speak.

Lemme ask you this, What was your reaction to a shoe being thrown at President Bush?

            , If I believed you didn’t laugh I would be a fool wouldn’t I?

STOP TALKING OUT OF THE SIDE OF YOUR FACE. Every SINGLE POST GETS TURNED BACK ONTO THE OPPOSING PARTY.  Doesn’t that get boring?? Wouldn’t it be nice  to come on here say, “hey, I read an article on this topic, this is what I think”. Are you even capable of doing that?? I thin k that would take to much energy. easier to let people with extremist positions wghose soul purpose is to keep everybody riled up when half the time they don’t even know why.

          6. Could you please try to clarify what you’re trying to say here? I’ll just ask you, since it seems to be where this thread has been drawn to by others and you seem to be here in opposition to what I’ve been saying, YES or NO, do you think that anyone should be respected for pointing a finger in the face of a U.S. President? Go ahead be honest.

In regards to George and the shoe, I’ll honestly say that I thought the thrower deserved prison for his action and Junior certainly showed superior dodging skills (They must play dodge ball in Private School Phy. Ed. classes!) in avoiding the smelly projectile. Good for him. However given what he did to this country I do have to say that I wish he’d spent more time in economics and world history classes than physical education. If he had perhaps he wouldn’t have needed those quick reflexes and our country and the world wouldn’t be in the condition it’s in today.

          7. Again, you are clearly asserting that the President’s words are somehow superior to the others. A “normal” person deserving of being called an American, you say, responds to the President’s criticism with a “smile”. But a “rude” and “nasty” person not deserving of any respect, you say, shows disagreement. I don’t agree at all. Why should Jan Brewer stand there and smile like a mindless, stepford wife while the President criticizes her work? Her words are just as valid as his. End of story.

          8. I’m asserting only that when you stand before a United States President you show respect. You’re welcome to do anything you like when and if you ever meet one. I’m guessing the end of the story for folks like you will rightfully be when five secret service men have you pinned to the floor. Good luck with that.

          9. Actually, you are the one who suggested my disapproval with the President means I would take some sort of violent action against him. THAT is the epitome of nastiness.

          10. Violent actions?  Where did those words come from?  Now you’re just making stuff up and hoping stupid folk will side with you.  Good luck with that as well.

          11. ‘You’re welcome to do
anything you like when and if you ever meet one. I’m guessing the end of the
story for folks like you will rightfully be when five secret service men have
you pinned to the floor. Good luck with that.”

What else could you possibly mean by
            that?

          12. So you admit that you made those words up, yes?   Thanks.  Perhaps it means EXACTLY what we were discussing, that while reaching towards and talking nasty some loser tried to get up in the President’s face like your hero Jan Brewer.  Please do try to follow the conversation.

          13. They’d be a lot easier to comprehend if you’d simply read them without interjeting your own muddled thoughts between them.  Sometimes what someone is saying simply is what they are saying.  There’s no need to believe or pretend to believe they’re saying anything else.

          14. I’m not adding things to your words. Your comments are so vague and confusing that I have to play guessing games. Even when I ask for explanation, you don’t clearly give one. So, I’m done.

          15. Respect must be earned.

Some people actually are so bad at what they do that not only do they not earn respect, they go negative.   Obama is a prime example of this .

          16. She didn’t have to.    However, what can you expect from a member of BOG? Three years of non-stop belligerence.

          17. Ya know, I might take you seriously if I thought you didn’t let out a few guffaws when someone threw a shoe at President Bush. I would be a fool if I believed that regardless of what you say wouldn’t I? Personally, I think both are a disgrace but it seems i’m in the minority. As long as it’s YOUR GUY, it’s okay, right everybody?

How so many of these insipid, partisan comments are taken seriously by so many puzzles me. Waittaminnit, no it doesn’t. THE WEEK MINDED DO NOTHING BUT THROW STONES. they’re easy targets. They can’t  understand the issues so they don’t even pretend they have any idea what’s going on.

      2.  Go Back and read that whole article again,,,, She got in his face not the other way around….

      3. Politeness and civility are an endangered species.  Gov. Brewer had none.  Wagging your finger in the face of the president is ignorance amplified. Le Page is the most impolite and uncivil governor this state has ever had to endure.  He is just as rude as Gov. Brewer.

    1. I know. Romney sets a better example.   He and his wife share – get that – have to share three  Caddies and she doesn’t even think anything about being rich.  He’s a multi -millionaire who allowed  companies go bankrupt and then bought them back on the cheap.  Passing out pink slips he delights in.   He would have let the American auto industry fall flat. But it’s not all money with Romney – it’s more money in between bites of biscuits and spoonfuls of Grits.   When he’s down south, that is.

      Keep bashing.

      1. He’d have to pay me a lot more than $100, I wouldn’t walk across the street for him either!

        1. Gosh I guess this vitriolic response was predictable for a story like this.  The man is your president.  Show some respect.

          1. You can call me a racist if you want.  I know you probably want to.  I’ve actually gotten used to it since I realized how big a disappointment obama is and decided to vote for Ron Paul.

          2. “The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency…” ~ Theodore Roosevelt

          3. I agree – he was elected by the people; even George W. Bush deserved respect for being the president while he was in office. But Mr. Obama has increased the number of private sector jobs, saved the auto and banking industries, and kept our economy from descending into a needless downward spiral.  I fully intend to support “our” president.

        2. You’d probably prefer Newt, no doubt.  His Jobs Plan is heralded as revolutionary, considering it can be implemented with just a toilet brush.

      2. Mitt is for you. His three Cadillac approach to the nation’s problems between bites of biscuits and Grits is memorable.

      1. Obama is no liar.  He has been very truthful, and open about his agenda to destroy America.

          1. That seems to be the agenda of the conservatives – destroy America by refusing to join the 21st century!

    1.  Obummer. The epic fail of a President.
      Higher gas prices…
      Higher unemployment…
      Higher government debt…
      Higher unemployment…

On every level this guy is a failure.

      1. Higher unemployment compared to what? The height of the Bush recession or the lows of the Clinton years? You know your argument is weak when you have to use an unclear statement TWICE! That’s just sad. It’s statements like this that cause independents and young people looking on to become and vote for Democrats.  Need I say it?  You’ve failed to properly support your lost cause.  Thanks!

          1. You’re showing your incapability of accepting facts just like the rest of BOG Bashing Obama Gang.

Leadership:  Bush washed his hands of Bin Laden, by exclaiming he didn’t care where he was.   Then he took out Sadam Hussein.   In contrast, President Obama vowed to kill Bin Laden.  He did. BOG will immediately correct me to say that Seals did it. Not Obama.  Sorry.  He was the leader who saw the whole operation through from start to finish.

There are many other skills demonstrated by Obama.   But BOG hatefully rejects anything good accomplished.

          2. I guess I’m one of the bashers then, because Obama did not kill OBL.  Seal Team 6 did.  Why give credit to someone who wasnt there, and did nothing?

          3. He is the C-in-C.  He is the one who targeted Bin Laden. He ordered an attack be made. He was the one who said “Go.”  The commandos carried out his orders.

His praise of the Team and the support personnel who helped make the operation a success has been unwavering.  Not once has he ever claimed any personal glory. Bush said “I could care less where Bin Laden is.”

        1. at least when Clinton left he left with a balanced budget and actual surplus i’d take that over a decade of war, debt, potential financial colapse and those seeking to start WWW3 any day. Tell monicka to get back in the oval office and bring Clinton back.

      2. Epic fail? Really? Let’s look at some of those numbers BEFORE he took office, ay?

        Under Bush:
Gas prices; $4.11 for regular in 2008
Unemployment: 7.8% in 2009, 655,000 jobs lost, highest in over 15 years
Govt Debt: 2.5 TRILLION through 2008, when he started there was a surplus in 2000 of 236 billion.

So, I guess it’s taking Obama longer to recover the economy than it did Bush to destroy it. Bush took the surplus and turned it into a $415 billion dollar deficit IN HIS FIRST YEAR! Just a little wake up. It takes longer to fix something than it does destroy it.

        1. President Obama added more to the deficit in 1.5 years than all Presidents from Washington to Reagan. And last week, President Obama told us that he can’t control gas prices. But Bush could?! Total hypocrisy- on his part and YOURS.

          1. Part of the deficit numbers under Obama are policies that he and Congress kept in place that started under Bush. And gas prices are not yet as high as they were under Bush. Stay in school, mainestudent.

          2. It’s an election year, it will be going down. All candidates are screaming about gas prices. There will be a huge release of the oil barrel supply to bring the prices down just in time for elections, as history goes.

          3. it’s not about supply or demand …. look else where for reasons for high gas prices… be careful where you look if you are a democrat

          4. Oh please, I never said they were higher. I said President Obama himself recently declared that the President can’t control gas prices. Yet he blamed Bush in 2008, and clearly so did you. Simple as that.

          5. Obama can’t control gas prices … any more than Bush could.  Gas prices are a function of the market which is at record highs in large part due to the saber rattling by and at Iran.  The only way any President can control the prices would be to make gas & oil a government regulated business.  Imagine how the republicans would howl at the idea of “socialist” Obama “nationalizing” industry!!

          6. Read my comment again. That’s all I ask. I said absolutely nothing at all to place blame on Obama. Don’t twist my words to fit your own argument. I simply pointed out that in 2007 and 2008, President Obama placed the responsibility of controlling gas prices upon the President. Now he see the reality. If you can’t remember the way Democrats crucified President Bush when gas prices hit $4.00, then go back and watch some clips from the news and Congressional hearings. All I pointed out was the hypocrisy and lowering of standards from one administration to the next.

          7.  You are wrong about Obama, the candidate, blaming Bush for high oil prices.

He never took that position.  Period.  If anyone tells you they can influence oil prices from the White House, they are telling you a whopper.

          8.  Clinton did it all the time. By releasing “X” number of barrels of oil, Clinton increased the supply which in turn decreased prices. Whether or not it was good policy is debatable, but if the question is can the president influence oil prices, then the answer is yes.

          9. That is a temporary gain and not a realistic strategy for controlling prices. All that strategic supply manipulation does is lower the price today and increase it next month. It is a gimmick.

          10. YES socialized gas and oil,  just like Venezuela.   What a success  story our “Dear Leader” could ponder, brilliant!

          11.  I personally love the idea of socializing the petroleum that is under our collective soil.  I do not believe it belongs to those who profit from it. I also believe if the people had more say, we would make better decisions about our energy future.

          12.  Speculation is a small part of the problem.  the biggest problem is in the mirror.  Americans waste energy and it is finally getting the better of us.

          13. Could you cite any reference where we could see a quote from Obama specifically blaming Bush for gas prices?

… or did that one just get pulled from where the sun don’t shine?

          14. Democrat radio address- Senator Obama clearly said “we could’ve headed off $4.00 a gallon gas,”  then listed off the many ways he believed President Bush prevented that. Senator Obama also gave a speech at a gas station in 2008 where he blamed the rising gas prices on President Bush’s frequent meetings with oil companies. Everyone from Nancy Pelosi, to Harry Reid to Hillary Clinton are on record blaming President Bush and Vice President Cheney for the high gas prices. Why should this administration be held to a different standard?

          15. Part of the deficit numbers under Obama are policies that he and Congress kept in place that started under Bush. And gas prices are not yet as high as they were under Bush. Stay in school, mainestudent.”

So, not only did he keep failed policies under Bush intact, but added to them? Wouldn’t the proper course of action be to CHANGE those policies?

Who should be going back to school?

          16. I think replying to a post blaming Obama for today’s gas prices that notes gas prices under the prior president is pointing out the hypocrisy of others,

Or maybe you just need a dictionary because of you no idea what hypocrisy means?

          17. I never blamed the current President in my comment. So, you might need to read it again. All I know is, I most certainly know what hypocrisy means. But I don’t exactly understand your point. I think you missed a word or two, so I can’t fully reply to it.

          18. The economy would have been much worse if the President hadn’t spent the stimulus money – we’d be in much worse shape now. Want to stabilize the economy and bring down oil prices? Nationalize the oil and banking industries; they are the biggest economic siphon in the county for our citizens, not the government.

          19. OMG… and there it is ladies and gentlemen.. the …” oh my it would have been worse argument”
it is this kind of foolish ranting that creates an environment for more shredding of the Constitution of this once great country.. makes me sick  to see how you and people like you are attempting the ” great change” that has already failed world wide many times in our human history…. ugh

          20.  Due to the way budgets work, Obama had no choice but to run deficits.  This was handed to him.  As congress has not been willing to make real changes, we are stuck with the deficits until we either: (1) increase taxes, (2) dismantle the military complex or (3) make some significant investments that will bring more economic activity stateside.  I will bet you are a republican, based on your comment.  You should be aware that each of the solutions are completely opposed by republicans.

If you vote for the republicans in the field today, you are guaranteed to have higher deficits going forward.  They will make excuses for them, but if that’s what you care about, you should act accordingly.

        2.  Nice job picking and choosing dates for your prices. Look them up on the last day of Bush being in office. Typical liberal….statistics are but lies to you guys.

          1. I don’t print the facts, I just read them. And you should talk. I see your links were dating back a few years too.

          2. Bash Obama – three years, and still going strong.

You and your 32 fans just hate the president.  First off – the surplus you refer to was handed to President Bush by President Clinton.  Spent on two big wars -Iraq and Afghanistan.  Bush didn’t pay it off before he left for Texas to continue his long battle with too much brush on his ranch.  He used to spend weekends there during his presidency.
Your interpretation of gas price surges,  or, your  blatant distortion of fact, simply serve as another way of bashing Obama.  The old supply and demand theory setting the proces, died some time ago.  Oil Futures have taken their place.  An artificial market has been created under the control of Wall Street speculators.

State Sen. Bernie Sanders D-Vt., slammed Wall Street speculators last week for creating such high prices.  CNN carried his outcry.  Few, if any other media outlets bothered.   That left the Bash Obama Gang (BOG) to continue its frenzied bashing. Not one Repuke picked up on it.

Sanders simply said:  ” So as speculators gamble, millions of Americans are paying what amounts to a “speculators tax” to feed Wall Street’s greed. People who live in rural areas like my home state of Vermont are hit harder than most because they buy gas to drive long distances to their jobs.”

He said a lot more.  You can visit his site,  or snatch a look about  gas prices  speculation on the Web.  It is the truth.

        3.  Can we just all agree that our political system is faulty and no matter who we elect democrat or republican nothing will get done and the people will always get brushed aside for money.

        4.  The fact that you THINK the government has at any time in the past 40 years ever operated at a SURPLUS makes your statement completely unconvincing.

How long does he have to be in office until ONE thing he does will not be blamed on Bush or someone else????? That is the liberal way though nothing is our fault everything is because of X.

      3.  He is not a failure at all, he’s a very honest politician and socialist, winning his way. But no one is listening.

      4. “Failure” is kind of harsh…

“Extreme disappointment” is a much more civil measurement.

      5.  What people are forgetting to mention is that the past 3 months have been the best 3 months for job growth in 65 years!!!!!!!!  That’s kinda a big deal, but all anyone wants to do is bash the Pres.  I know the economy is horrible, but it can’t be blamed on any one Pres, and it can’t be fixed by any one Pres, either.  You can disagree with his politics, but to pretend that things are worse since he took office is ignoring the facts.  And if you think the Pres is in charge of gas prices, you should do some research.  Gas prices are dictated by global markets, and the American Pres has little influence on them.  Also, all of you that were complaining that Obama wasn’t doing anything vis-a-vis Iran, well…he did, and gas prices went up as a result.  Now you complain that gas prices are high.  So, what do you want?  Make up your minds…

        1. Mention Obama and BOG (Bash Obama Gang) hatefully spits back.  No matter what he does, or, what you say to defend his accomplishments, BOG is watching.

Read some of the spiteful and fact less moaning and whining by some of these posters.  It’s all hate. Nothing of substance.   They’re still blaming Clinton for NAFTA. Why not?  Clinton signed the bill after 166 Repukes and 129 Democrats passed it in the House and Senate.  Of course, back then bipartisanship was still obtainable.  But the Hate gang spikes Clinton.

BOG will be happy with Newt – the toilet brush man. Or, Romney, three Caddies and a plate of Grits and biscuits.  Or, even Santorum, total celibacy and  Catholicism.

      6. Repukes have a tough time restraining their vitriolic at the mention of the president’s name.

Their bombast spews non-stop like an unplugged geyser. Facts are immaterial.  And, if you question their pained outbursts they attempt to besmirch you with schoolyard taunts.

However, just for the fun of it.  And, yes, I checked it out.  I don’t need to go back to school and I wasn’t in diapers in 1992 – or, whatever you wish.

The $6.4 trillion debt incurred by
George W. Bush accounts for almost half of today’s  total
$14,3 trillion debt.  Two needless wars, the killing of capital
gains and inheritance taxes, all helped inflate the deficit.  Remember, the Iraq War Bush and Cheney
plunged us into was completely unjustified.
Both wars account for the two trillion dollar plus debt handed to Barack
Obama when he became president.  Observers
agree, almost half of the total of today’s $14.3 trillion debt was accumulated
during the eight-year reign of Bush and Cheney.Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

        1. Man I’m getting tired of your posting erroneous figures to put out your Liberal rants.  Our national debt is now over $15.49 trillion . Here this will help you keep your figures correct … http://www.usdebtclock.org/

          1. Almost half of today deficit – $14.3 trillion –  was accumulated during the reign of George Bush and Richard Cheney.    Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bailouts played a large part in that deficit. The Iraq War was also a major contributing factor.  Bush and Cheney are not frugal people.  Neither were many of their supporters.  Your myopic radical right wing moaning  excludes you from reality.

He said a lot more.  You can visit his site,  or snatch a look about  gas prices  speculation on the Web.  It is the truth.

      8. Because I actually like and care about my neighbors, I am letting you know that starting a comment with Obummer makes you look like a cretin.  If you have something to say, say it and say it boldly, but as for the name-calling, it does no harm to the president but it does considerable harm to your argument.  It says from the start I am a man of bias instead of saying you are a man of principle.  Country guy or city guy, how you say what you say means more than what you actually are saying.

    2. Yeah, keep talking as you celebrate the GOP TeaNut Goofball Clown Parade Party and their FakeNews Rush Limpmind nonsense.  Obama will handily defeat any of the absolute goofy clowns the TeaNuts decide to nominate.

      1. What has the president done lately that you just love so much?  This president, if you want to call him that, has done nothing but sell out the USA since he showed up.  If any other president had done half the things this guy has done, he would have been run out of office.  Because he is the first black president he has gotten a free pass to do whatever he wants by the media, and alot of people have been afraid to stand up to him for fear of being called a racist.

          1. There is a big difference between you and I.  You are content to believe that the government knows best and are very happy suckling at the teat of big government. I, on the other hand, believe that this country was founded with a very cut and dry set of rules to follow.  Those rules are called the Constituion of The United States.

          2. Impassioned as you may be, the psychological differences you and your fellow myopic right wingers  so knowingly exposed via this media, fail again.  Like so many  BOG members, your judgement is regimented by the tea party and radical right wing mandate.  In one hand you wave the Constitution, whilst deliberately or blindly defying its very Preamble.

Branded for voicing a different opinion,  you defy the 1st Amendment which simply states that Americans should  protect and guarantee the right of  free speech.

Replies from you and other radicals, assume and condemn me and others of being nursed by the government.  Not knowing who you are talking to and being under protection of your nom de plume, you feel free to castigate anyone who dares question  right wing propaganda under your rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

For your own entertainment, I have worked hard all my life  in many jobs.  Fortunately, not once have I had to make a claim for unemployment compensation, or food stamps.   I was lucky.  Today, many are not so lucky.  Under the Preamble to the Constitution, Americans are told it is their duty to assist and provide welfare for those in need. Liberals on both sides of the aisle have always recognized that clause.  Until now.  Extending benefits has become a bargaining chip by the tea party republican clan to continue low taxes for those of more fortunate means.

Browse those “cut and dried rules.”  You should find that the Preamble challenges your authoritarian interpretation.

    3. Who lied about the Iraq War? It was a lie. An awful big fib.

You didn’t squawk about paying for that. That $2.4 trillion debt was dropped on Obama’s doorstep by Bush. Thousands still suffer and will spend the rest of their lives suffering from Honest George and Water Board Dick’s episode.

  2. I love that in  the first sentence that the venue had to be changed to accommodate MORE supporters.Looks like Mitt’s Detroit clowns could take a lesson with all those supporters in Ford Field looking like empty seats.

    1. There were 1,200 people at the Romney speech you’re referring to. The Hutchinson Building holds 1,700 max.

      Wow, huge difference……

      1. … and half Romney’s “supporters” were college students bused in by Brigham Young university who are allowed to use the time as part of their mandatory 2 years of public service.

lol: They have to BRIBE people to see Romney!

  3. Why a bigger venue?  He is not drawing big crowds now, or the cameras would pan the people present.

  4. Some of these comments about our President really surprise me.  When I left Maine in 1978 most Mainers were polite and civil.  It seems like the crassness of the rest of the country has infected Maine.  I’ll be moving back to Maine this June.  I trust that at least a measure of that civilty remains.

    1. Glad you weren’t here when President Bush was President. You would have really been disappointed!

    2. A few years after you left Maine the democrats were voted in as the ruling majority.as a result,Maine has gone from being known as a state full of hard working independent people to a welfare handout and entitlement state all thanks to the socialist democrats.
I have watched farms shut down, fishing boats sold for scrap, all diffrent types of manufacturing facitilies shut down and many different wood mills closed. Most of the workers in these trades either had to move out of the state of Maine or go on welfare.

About a year ago we voted in a Republican governor,he has been working hard to change the state back to it’s once independent and hard working ethics.but,It has been an uphill battle for him to say the least.

Well, anyway.welcome back to Maine and Iam certain you will find that Maine is on it’s way back to that civilty that you once knew.

  5. Thank you Mr. President for coming back to Maine.

    And

Thank you for  leading our Country into a brighter future.

    1. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I’m not even going to point out the glaring ignorance of that last statement, you’re lips have some really prominent kool-aid stains….

      1.  Great!!! then we dont have to worry about seeing you write another dumb comment ! Fewwww!

      2. Keep laughing.  Sixteen people apparently enjoy your jokes as much as they do the Fabulous Four, appearing nightly on TV in their Mitt Romney  – led chorus “Getting To Know You.”   Also featuring Newt’s “Toilet Brush Twirlers,”  harmonizing “This Job’s For Me.”  Nick Santorum will do a repeat of “Celibacy, It’s All Over my Celibacy.”  The grand finale stars Ron Paul and his ever popular “Oh, We  Ain’t Going To Go To War No More, No More.”

  6. I would like to see him come north to Millinocket and have him describe his vision for a economic jobs path forward….

It will never happen; much like most presidential politicians, Northern Maine’s astronomic jobless rate is nothing they want to address.

      1. Same goes for Romney.

The fact is that Millinocket is better than 75% Democrat, and the majority of them dont like Obama…

My biggest fear is that Romney will be the GOP pic, and then it wont matter which one gets elected,,,, they’re both the same. Both want a forced governmental healthcare mandate, they both are anti 2nd Amendment, and they both support the Quimby National Park—- in short we’re skrewed..!

  7.  Wow, I’ve attempted to see every  President as far back as the 70’s. Now I have to play for the right? Guess i’ll pass.

Please don’t tell me this President is any different then any other politician.

    1. … and if it was he still would only have taken half as many vacation days as George W had by this time in his first term.

      1. Well no,not the best bash of the day,BUT it’s the truth! and the truth hurts obama supporters.

  8. it’s hard not to be elitist, when responding to the content and tenor of some of the posts

  9. Too bad,  so sad,  I’m glad you whiners are mad.   I can’t make the gathering but I will send my donation anyway!  His administration ended the war in Iraq as he said he would do, he is drawing the Afghanistan war to a close as he said he would and I hope he speeds it up immeasurably, they saved the American auto industry, they have brought the country back from the brink of national bankruptcy, he has gotten the country started on health care reform for all – I didn’t say it was perfect but it is a start; he has raised the age at which children can be on their parents’ policies, he believes that women should have access to preventative health care – why in hell is this an issue?  He believes in equality for all and signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Play Act.  He ended Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. He has supported more flexibility in the NCLB education support.  He believes billionaires should pay their fair share of taxes. Despite inheriting one of the worst economic messes since the Great Depression, he added 2.6 million private sector jobs to our economy and by all indications the economy is improving, during all of this hell, the stock market is gaining positive marks for those who invest in our country.   I am happily supporting President Obama’s re-election.

      1. Well you will be waiting for it a very long time then. Because all it was is to buy votes and get the clown elected.  What a joke and a liar this Emperor is.

        1. You constantly harp about the president being a liar.  Find something bad to say and it has to be President Obama.   Nothing he has ever said or done will ever please you.  Even if he said Good Morning” you’d find cause to show your distaste for the man.

Show me one lie.    Just one lie,  whilst waiting for the Repuke clowns to do a re-run of their flubbed and imperfect impression of a comedy show.

      2. The one you already got?

The only reason you’d still be waiting for it is if you are on the public dole and aren’t getting a paycheck.

    1.  Me too.And all these whiners will have their hand out.Trust me if you want a group that pays nothing in and takes everything out, look at the TPers.Alan Simpson was right when he called them greedy geezers.

    2. The loudest group with their hands out asking for more are the ultra rich and the lobbyists for industry.  While I’d be willing … no, more than willing, happy, to consider a moderate republican candidate the current batch doesn’t fit the bill.  As long as the Republican party claims they want less government intervention all while trying to control my personal life I will continue to lean toward the Democrats who may want more money but at least let me (and my neighbors) live my life according to MY morals, not their church’s.

    3. Mention President Obama and BOG flips out.  Nothing skips their hate sheet.  Cool weather in March could be next.  The Bash Obama Gang blames him for everything that Rupert Murdoch’s media chain of propagandists have been pushing since President Obama announced his candidacy.

So thick is their hate, they deny him credit for planning and initiating the successful commando op’ against Bin Laden.    Pitifully, like babes, they whine that it was the commandos – not Obama.  All of his plans to put the country back on its feet after the worst recession since the 20s have been blocked repeatedly by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, who bluntly declares his only goal is to prevent the president serving a second term.   Backed by an equally hateful mob of people with tea bags dangling from their hats and uttering  foul mouthed curses, the hate has mushroomed to such proportions, we now live in a country divided.

    4. I actually voted for obama because he claimed he would have ALL of the troops out of Iraq and Afganistan with 30 days of taking office.  I’m sure I’m not the only one still waiting for family and friends to come home.

  10. All occupiers….come out and yell mic check! Pitch your
tents and yell Hail to the Chief. Collect some contraceptives
and make sure you have him give them to all the women the
Repubs want to keep in the kitchen. Heck, see if he has some
more money in his stash to hand out and ask him if he will
give you a $50 light bulb to hold over your head. One day that
bulb just may go on for you.

  11.   Imagine that, $100 to see the President of my country. Now I may or may not have voted for him, the point is I  have to PAY to see him? Well that’s a $100 that will stay in my pocket. As if he needs any more money to run for another tu-d I mean term.

  12. With the price of gas who other than someone that lives in the Portland area has the money to waste listening to this useless politician.

    1. You either live in the Portland area or have the time and money to waste on gas.  Too bad you don’t give your money to a local charity or Maine family in need than waste your hard earned money on listening to some political hack.

      1. Listening to President Obama and spending some time with other people who support him will be a welcome relief from the nasty-minded drivel that so often fills these comments sections.

        1. You are just as guilty of nasty-minded drivel against people who don’t agree with your point of view.   Are you going to pretend you are so much better than other people and ask why people don’t see issues the way you do?

          1. I do my best to maintain a civil discourse with people who don’t see issues the way I do. I’m not perfect, but I try hard to be kind and rational.

        2. I hear groupies follow their idols throughout the country side. Enjoy traveling the next 8 months..

    2. Of course you are, in your prius eating raw veggies the whole trip.. If I were you I’d seach the world for like minded people also..

      1. I do actually own a Prius (how perceptive of you!). I’m not a fan of raw veggies, though.

Why would you sneer at people who drive a car that gets 50 mpg?

  13. They ought to put it in one of the chicken coops in Turner with all the brown stuff that will be flying around, would be right in place.

    1. Repukes love to bash Obama – that’s all.    Nothing constructive,  Just a continuous 24/7 bashing, as dictated by Rupert Murdoch and Rush Limbaugh. For comic relief tune into the Romney Follies, featuring Newt, Rick and Ron.

  14. I hope Oblamer is speaking down at the Tavern next to the bus station. At least then the venue would match the message.

  15. If maine tax money went into this building rent should be charged. No matter who use’s it. This is a ?

  16. Please Barrack Hussein Obama, stay away from Maine.  You definitely do not understand Mainer’s or their unique problems.  Please withdraw from the presidential race and retire-we appreciate the service but you are the wrong man at the wrong time.   Thank you.

    1. Well, you get your one vote and that’s where it end. Let others decide if he truly is “the wrong man at the wrong time.”

    2. Another Romney fan.  Maybe Paul or Santorum?  Or, even Gingrich.  All show their relationship to the common folks.  Down south Romney understands southerners because he eats Grits and biscuits.  Oh, and he told them, he was learning how to say “Y’all.”

       Just another Obama Basher.

  17. Well, I would go if the event weren’t a 3 hour drive from here.   He’s the man we need for 4 more years for sure and I might send him $100 just to help him win.

  18. Maine voters and taxpayers think we live in a Democracy, eh?
    LOL

    http://www.allgov.com/Controversies/ViewNews/Judge_Orders_Justice_Dept_to_Release_Document_about_FBI_Helping_Ronald_Reagans_Political_Career_120311

Judge Orders Justice Dept. to Release Document about FBI Helping Ronald Reagan’s Political Career
A California journalist has won his fight with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to get the Department of Justice to release documents that may show the FBI, although a government entity, was helping advance Ronald Reagan’s political career in the 1970s.

Seth Rosenfeld, who is writing a book about the FBI’s activities in connection with the University of California during the Cold War, filed a Freedom of Information Act request to obtain records pertaining to Reagan’s relationship with the FBI.

It has been previously acknowledged that Reagan did help the FBI as early as the 1940s by spying on suspected communists in the Screen Actors Guild.

Rosenfeld contends that the FBI has a three-page document from January 9, 1975, that may indicate that while Reagan was Governor of California the bureau was helping advance his political career by warning him of potentially embarrassing details about his associates. In one instance, this meant informing Reagan about the relationship between an acquaintance of Reagan’s and the son of an organized crime figure. According to material that has been released, Reagan acknowledged that the association “might well jeopardize any political aspirations [Reagan] might have.”

The document in question also deals with the traffic violations and arrest record of a public figure aligned with Reagan. Rosenfeld argues that the FBI should reveal the name of the public figure in question. U.S. District Judge Edward Chen agreed with Rosenfeld that “the investigation of the subject’s old traffic violations had no conceivable purpose other than to aid Ronald Reagan’s political career by providing advance notice of any issues of potential embarrassment that might affect any future political campaign. The disclosure of this document thus enhances the public’s understanding of whether then FBI used public resources to benefit a private citizen for non-law enforcement purposes.”

The judge granted summary judgment to the journalist and ordered the FBI to release an unredacted copy of the 37-year-old document.

  19. It will be filled with groupies. Obama the Idol. You people are sick.. going to see someone who kills women and children in the middle east….

  20. If he had a billion dollar war chest maybe we could find out.

He doesn’t. That was made up to try to scam more money out of people for Republican candidates.

  21. it would be better if the venue were moved to some place more comfortable for the president.. oh let’s say perhaps oh .. Kenya

    1. Why Kenya?  He was born in Hawaii.  You must be a Trump fan and a member of the Obama  Bashers.

    2. “There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always
been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread
winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the
false notion that democracy means that “my ignorance is just as good
      as your knowledge.”

      Isaac Asimov

      1. As George Carlin said, “Think of how stupid the average person is and then remember That half of the people are stupider than that…”

  22. Instead of using the president’s visit to the “Open For Business” state as a means for an   “Open For Bashing”  state on everything that he hasn’t been able to control, especially prices of gasoline, try this.

Switch over to Sen. Susan Collins R. Me. site and write her a note.  Tell her how upset you are with the prices of gas and implore her to back Atty. Gen. Holder’s attempts to stop this horrendous speculation – the real and only cause for gas price inflation.

Send Sen. Snowe a note, too.  You might be able to detract Mitch McConnell from his frenzied attack on Obama and get him to home  in on a topic more relevant to your own  situation as a gas user, than  just bashing Obama.  There are others you should contact.  Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, an Independent, is currently  the only  member of Congress visible and vocal on this important issue.

Stop Wall Street Speculation.  The supply is there.

  23. What a silly poll….Will people over 100 miles away be going to hear a political speech?  Uhhh, that is obviously going to be a very small number.  Even the 15% saying Yes is inflated.  This poll says nothing about anything.  Hey BDN, can you at least think about whether the polls make sense before publishing them?

  24. Wish he would try being president and lead for a change. We don’t need any more Dog and Pony shows, we need some action to get us out of this mess. Anyone who believes he is for America  is suffering from PDS known as Progressive /Liberal Delusional Syndrome. I need my 100 bucks more than he does.

  25. Stolen Gulf Oil Spill Money Now Funding Liberal Land Grab
Senate Passed Massive Land Acquisition Funding

    So What Will Obama Do….?

The US Senate has just passed an amendment to the Transportation Bill siphoning off tens of billions of dollars of Gulf oil spill money for the enviro land acquisition agenda.

The Senate just passed an Amendment to the Transportation Bill piggy-backing the controversial Restore Act.  The Restore Act provides billions of dollars of the Gulf Oil Spill money to the Gulf States but also adds guarantees of billions of dollars to the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) to buy private land and convert it into government ownership.

A Federal entitlement for massive land acquisition has been a major goal of the park and wilderness lobby for years.

They have repeatedly tried to get this controversial scheme through.

Congress through both frontal assaults and sneak attacks attached to other bills to dodge the opposition.  This is CARA all over again.

In a historically shocking vote, the Senate just added the Nelson LWCF Amendment (Restore Act) to the Senate Transportation Bill and takes billions of dollars of the Gulf Oil Penalty Money and gives it to the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).  This is an attack on Rural America.  It is an attack on you.  The LWCF is used to buy private land.  The park and wilderness ideology
holds that humanity is guilty for civilization and must pay reparations to the earth — which they further interpret to mean wiping out private property rights for forced wilderness on a mass scale.

Nothing is stopping these funds from being used to force families from their homes

*It doubles current funding for the LWCF adding $700 million for each of the next two years, guaranteed in advance.

*Extends the LWCF until 2022 from the present law of 2015.

*None of this money will be used to create jobs.

*None of this money will be used to reduce the deficit or lower taxes.

*The LWCF money will be a dagger in heart of the economy and private property ownership.

*A fully funded LWCF is an all-out attack on Rural America.

*A fully funded LWCF is an attack on local communities.

*In-holders and landowners are in grave danger.

*The LWCF Restore Act will lead to a massive expansion of Federal lands thereby reducing your access and use.  The green groups will push to get the new Federal lands into Wilderness status.
