AUGUSTA, Maine — The average price of home heating oil in Maine remains at $3.86 a gallon for a third week in a row.
The weekly survey of the Governor’s Office of Energy Independence and Security found a low of $3.62 per gallon in southwestern Maine and the highest price of $4.17 in central Maine.
Office Director Ken Fletcher says there’s very little a state can do to in the short term to reduce oil prices since prices are determined primarily by global supply and demand.
He said Monday that Maine’s focus should be on providing guidance on energy improvements for homes, buildings and factories. He also suggests the state pursue clean, reliable, affordable renewable energy resources and alternative heating systems and expanding access to natural gas supplies.

Northern Maine even higher
thank God for hardwood.
Hope and change. Oilbama 2012.
What? Obama has nothing to do with oil prices…..the USA number 1 export is oil.
Not too shaby, still under 5 bucks!!
If you’re not ready and prepared for the increase, you haven’t been paying attention
best of luck to all….no R or D will save you from what’s to come!!
How about This as the Maine SOLUTION?
Oil should ABSOLUTELY be better used as fuel for trucks, trains and planes. Oil is
much too valuable to be burned in a stationary building. Oil should be reserved as a
Mobile fuel only.
If you have Natural Gas available, Hook Up as soon as you can.
If you can’t, consider Heat Pump (3 to 1 heat/energy multiplier) orWood Pellet systems.
Automatic large bin feed Pellet Boilers are available.
Energy Security Products, Main Rd. in Carmel has a nice system.
Check ’em out.
How about setting up to heat with Maine made Wood Pellets?
HALF the price of oil, BTU for BTU.
Think about it, check it out, then Try it.
You’ll see that Pellets are the way to go over oil.
