COLUMBIA FALLS – It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear Ansel into the loving arms of our Savior and Lord in the early morning hours of March 10, 2012, at Narraguagus Bay Health Care Facility, Milbridge. Ansel was born Aug. 14, 1917, in Columbia Falls, the oldest son the late Wellington and Rhoda Rockwell.
He was educated in Columbia Falls schools. Throughout his life, Ansel worked at various jobs. Before entering the military, he worked at the shipyard in Portland. Ansel was very proud of his service as military policeman. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 until 1946. After his tour of duty, Ansel returned home and worked for many years at Pineo Lumber. After working several other jobs, he then worked for Wyman’s Blueberry Co. until his retirement. Ansel was always a loving husband to his late wife, Kit.
He is survived by his brother, Cecil Rockwell and his wife, Eunice, of Addison; special nephew, whom Ansel thought of as a brother, Wendall Rockwell and his wife, Nancy, of Columbia Falls; many other nieces and nephews. Ansel was predeceased by his wife, Ethel “Kit” Rockwell; son, Ivan Rockwell; grandson, Michael Rockwell; parents; and sisters, Madeline Worcester and Imogene Watts. A special thank you is offered to all the staff at Narraguagus Bay Health Care Facility that gave such loving care to Ansel during his stay.
Private interment will take place at Mailey Hill Cemetery, Columbia. A private memorial will be scheduled for a later date. Arrangements by Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Homes, Milbridge.
