WILTON, Maine — A Chesterville man was arrested after police say he stabbed his fiancee on Friday night.
Carlton Elliott, 23, was placed under arrest after police responded to a disturbance at a Wilton home where Elliott and his fiancee were visiting relatives, Wilton Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said Tuesday.
Wilcox said after Elliott was arrested, he was transported to the Franklin County Jail in Farmington and charged with domestic assault and violating conditions of his release.
When police conducted an interview with the woman on Sunday, she told authorities that Elliott had stabbed her, Wilcox said.
“She had been afraid to disclose that,” the chief said.
After police concluded that part of the investigation, Elliott was also charged with aggravated assault and obstructing a crime report, since he tried to take the woman’s cellphone away as she contacted police, Wilcox said.
Wilcox added the woman initially declined medical treatment for the stab wounds on her leg, but she did seek medical treatment Monday.
Before his arrest Friday, Elliott was on bail awaiting sentencing later this month on a domestic assault charge on a different woman, according to Wilcox.
Wilcox added that Elliott made his first court appearance on the new charges Monday, and his bail was set at $5,000 cash. He is due back in court April 13.
Elliott’s record includes convictions of assaulting a police officer and carrying a concealed firearm, Wilcox said.
If convicted of the Class B aggravated assault charge, Elliott faces up to 10 years behind bars. In addition, he faces up to a year in jail on the Class D domestic violence count and six months for violating his bail.

What a surprise.
This loser was ” violating conditions of release”.
Maybe if bail was set high enough the woman might not have been stabbed.
Or the other woman wouldnt have been assaulted either.
When will it end?
Another coward who likes to attack women – what a man!
Stabs his fiancee while out on bail for domestic assault charges against another woman? You got yourself a real keeper there, honey…don’t let him get away…
Facing time in prison and receiving time in prison are two different things. Read the court news and most, or all, will be dismissed. I don’t know why cops even go to “domestics.” The courts need to have some integrity on this and stand up to the slick lawyers.
Money Talks… and all criminals WALK!!
Does this mean the wedding is off?
Nah, of course not…
this is why I train in Krav Maga
A marriage to be… Starting out just right!!
I hope that his fiance sees this as a huge RED flag and leaves before it’s too late.
