VAN BUREN and MANCHESTER, N.H. – Anita Marie Martin, 93, of Van Buren, died Tuesday morning, March 13, 2012, at a Van Buren health care facility. She was born July 19, 1918, in Siegas, New Brunswick, the daughter of Edmond and Marguerite (Devost) Levesque.

She worked as a nurse’s aide with Van Buren Community Hospital for more than nine years. After its closure, she relocated with her husband to New Hampshire for 13 years and returned home to Van Buren in 1986. She enjoyed sewing and knitting, always creating her own patterns and giving away her crafts to grandchildren, neighbors and friends. She even designed and sewed her daughter’s wedding dress.

Mrs. Martin is survived by one daughter, Joanne Laplante and her husband, Patrick, of Litchfield, N.H.; two granddaughters, Tammy Dion of Pembroke, N.H., and Debbie Couture and her husband, Steven, of Hooksett, N.H.; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Alfred “Fred” Martin, in 1992; a sister, Albertine Bonsant; and a brother, Edgar Levesque.

Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 16 and 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
