LAKELAND, Fla. — John Lefeber and Jay Loughlin both turned in strong pitching performances to lead Bowdoin College to a doubleheader sweep over Westfield State, 13-2 and 3-2 in baseball action Tuesday.
Lefeber struck out seven and didn’t allow an earned run in the first game while Loughlin allowed two earned runs with six strikeouts in six innings in the second game.
Bowdoin used a five-run third inning and six runs in the fifth to earn the win in the first game. Buddy Shea and Erik Jacobsen delivered RBI hits in the third and Kyle LeBlanc and Dan Findley had run-producing hits in the fifth.
Bowdoin scored three times in the fifth to take the win in the nightcap. Jacobsen delivered another key hit, scoring pinch runner Chris Cameron to give Bowdoin the lead. Two batters later, Tim McGarry laced to right that scored LeBlanc and Jacobsen.
Bowdoin is now 4-0.

Women’s lacrosse
Colby 19, USM 3
At Waterville, Claire Donegan, Tess Petesch and Lindsey McKenna each scored three goals to lead Colby by the University of Southern Maine.
Katharine Eddy and Katie Griffin each added two goals for 3-0 Colby.
Rosie Forster scored two goals for 2-1 USM and Jacki Kelly added one.

UNE 20, Husson 6
At Bangor, Gina Newsome scored seven goals and assisted on five to carry the University of New England to victory.
Hannah Tavella chipped in with five goals and Cara Cole notched three.
Caitlyn Stauffer led Husson with four goals while Kim Gambon contributed with a goal and an assist.
