BLAINE – Helen M. Rideout, 84, left her fears and worries behind to meet her Lord and maker March 13, 2012, at Maine Veterans Home, Caribou. She was born April 3, 1928, in Bridgewater, daughter of Fred and Ruby (Black) Rideout.
She attended Bridgewater schools, graduating as valedictorian of her class in 1946, after which she obtained a degree in nursing from Eastern Maine General Hospital, Bangor. Helen served as a nurse in the U.S. Air Force, retiring with the rank of captain. After her retirement she resided many years in California, continuing in the nursing profession before returning to Maine.
Helen was predeceased by three brothers, Clair, Earl and Ralph Rideout; and two sisters, Vinca Maskewicz and Henrietta Bradstreet. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Marie Rideout of New Jersey and Betty Rideout of Hermon; as well as several nieces and nephews.
