BANGOR, Maine — Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who left Walmart with numerous DVDs in his backpack.

Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Officer Kevin Haefele responded just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a male shoplifter at Walmart.

The man allegedly concealed 32 DVDs in his backpack and took off running when approached by security in the lobby of the store. After a brief foot chase, the thief dropped the backpack and continued to run, with the security guard recovering the DVDs, Edwards said.

Haefele asks anyone who knows the thief’s identity to call him at 947-7382. The department’s anonymous tip line can be accessed by pressing 6.

    1. If its the same Keven then I was a bit ahead of him in grammar school. His mother would have been a teacher of mine, although I cant remember what she taught, in 8th grade.

        1. He was quite a bit behind me in school if it was the same Keven or Kevin. His family owned the Country Barn in Trenton. Looks like it may not be the same person.

  1. with all the brainiacs in the paper for commiting crimes latly, i would almost bet that if the police dept posted a found ad for the back pack this guy would actually call and come to them to claim it =)

  2. No photo needed. Just if anyone sees someone with some dvd’s, call the police right away. I think it’s my next door neighbor… wait… that’s Netflix. He he he. This seems a bit minor of a story, but the truth is Walmart loses millions every year to shoplifters…

    1. Not in Bangor. Their security is good. They see all.

Where the heck is that camera located. Aren’t they usually in the ceiling.

    2. lol Walmart got the dvds back, he dropped the backpack, so we are looking for a man who dvdless.

  3. Without a photo, I would have to say it looks like several people I never met. Do I get a reward?

  4. I am still at a loss as to the BDN not providing any details whatsoever in the description
    of the alleged perpetrator.
    Real big (non) help.

Maybe we expect too much from the paper.

  5. just hang out at walmart….he will be back !  or take a look over at target…… oooohhh who they looking for ?

    1. I know you are tying to be amusing but it is Limbaugh style remarks like yours which drive the wedge of Discord ever deeper into the political division that already exists here in America.

      1. Politicians drive the wedge of discord even deeper , they really do a good job at that and don’t need my help. If you follow my posts I am equally critical of some conservative thinkers !

  6. I know who it was, looking at the photo it looks a lot like, oh what? No photo? You got to be kidding me? You want me to see if I have information, perhaps I was in the area and could help you but you can’t give me a good photo or description. It was a man, that’s it, that eliminated, 1 gender. Nice work! Maybe next time they should let the person keep on going and not bother to stop him.
Actually I am surprised WalMart even has a type of security in place, do we even have the right store?

    1. Wal-Mart has security in place, but the shoplifter actually has to pass the doors and make it out to the parking lot before they can be prosecuted legally for shoplifting.  Also, they aren’t the type of store that will pay insurance if one of their Dept. 65 guys gets stabbed while restraining the shoplifter.  Bangor P.D. would rather see Wal-Mart rely on law enforcement intervention to put another notch in their budget-shaped cigarette case.
