WATERVILLE, Maine — Police say six people were hurt when a speeding vehicle caused an accident that damaged five other cars waiting at a red light in front of the fire station in Waterville.

Witnesses told the Morning Sentinel that the driver of the car that hit the others at about 4:45 p.m. Sunday appeared to be “determined” as she sped toward the intersection.

Police say she was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Her name was not made public.

One of the other drivers said the woman’s vehicle struck his truck and the vehicle next to him. Her car went airborne, flipped and spun across about 40 feet before slamming into the rear bumpers of two cars waiting at the light. One of those cars was pushed into a sixth vehicle.

  1. Photo please.
It would make this a better paper if you had a photographer
    out snapping shots.

      1. Looking at these photos – it is a miracle that more people weren’t seriously hurt!  Holy Hannah…. definitely will be interesting to find exactly why she was so “determined” to get through that intersection.  I am guessing whatever it was, it probably was not worth it in the long run.

        1. Maybe she wasn’t determined to get through the intersection. Maybe she was determined to do away with herself and thought she would succeed that way. Very glad no one was more seriously hurt, other than her. Hope she has a speedy recovery.

    1. They put up a photo…a Google map of  Waterville, for those of us who never heard of Waterville, Maine.

  2. Thankfully there were no Bikers or Pedestrians at that intersection. That scene though bad, could have been a Lot Worse.

  3. It is a valid point, a lot like those robbery stories and everyone but the BDN has a photo….
