NEWTON, Mass. – Muriel Applebee di Bonaventura, 83, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. The former Miss Maine – 1948, was born April 9, 1928, in the town of Enfield, daughter of the late Bernice and Vinal Applebee.
Muriel’s varied professional life included management of a symphony orchestra, and later, creation of a successful interior design firm. On Valentine’s Day 1975, she married concert pianist and Boston University professor of music, Anthony di Bonaventura.
Muriel is survived by her husband, Anthony; her sister, Marvel Bacha; her brother, Vinal Applebee; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Muriel was predeceased by her son, Glenn Applebee LaPointe; and her sister, Althea Lowell.
