BANGOR, Maine — A 51-year-old local man was arrested by city police after showing up at the Bangor Police Department on Wednesday afternoon and reportedly causing a ruckus.

David Bakeman was intoxicated, loud and belligerent when he arrived at the police station’s reception desk about 2:30 p.m., Bangor police Sgt. Bob Bishop said Thursday, citing a police report.

Bishop said the report did not indicate the nature of the business that brought Bakeman to the station.

Bakeman was asked to leave and when he did not, he was arrested on a criminal trespass charge and taken to Penobscot County Jail. He since has been released on bail.

Wednesday’s arrest was not Bakeman’s first for criminal trespass. Last September, he was given a one-day jail sentence for criminal trespass. The month before, he was fined $150 for criminal trespass and $150 for disorderly conduct.

In 2010, he was sentenced to 24 hours in jail for violating a protection from harassment order and fined $150 for disorderly conduct.

    1. I’m not under the affluence of incohol and  I’m not as thunk as some drinkle peep I am, so have that beertender bring me a bar.

  1.  You seem to be missing the point. It’s not that he was drunk it’s that he was belligerent and refused to leave when asked (And I’m sure they did so multiple times and warned him that if he didn’t it would result in a criminal trespass).

Why – on BDN – does every little story bring out the conspiracy theorists?

    1. Did you ever stop to think that the person in question might simply be ill?  Perhaps you should.  I know Mr. Bakeman and most likely he believed that he had business to tend to at the police station and became frustrated when whoever he tried to talk to became impatient with him.  It’s really important to him that he handle whatever business he feels he has.  The whole thing could have been avoided with a bit of patience when dealing with him.

      1. I agree with you on this one thanks. Not all people are criminals and many criminals are let free for  reasons unknown the the general public.

  2. “Bishop said the report did not indicate the nature of the business that brought Bakeman to the station.”

They missed the real question,”What business brought you to BANGOR?”

  3. Finaly! A citizen conserned about the city budget, took himself to the cop shop avoiding the cost of some of the gas for the cop car.

  4. I think the guy was screwd from the getgo….once he stepped out the door they would have arrested him for public intoxication….me thinks

    1. He’s anything but dumb.  He’ll whip anyone’s butt playing cards and knows about every baseball statistic known to man.  Sadly, he’s just very ill.

  5. I know I have strong opinions. I can see why some of them are flagged. You also get flagged on things when you speak the truth.  I guess people want to hide the truth.
