VAN BUREN – Paul E. Paradis, 69, died March 22, 2012, at a Caribou hospital. He was born Nov. 19, 1942, in Madawaska, the son of James and Georgette (Pelletier) Paradis.
He was a self-employed oil dealer for more than 39 years, as owner and operator of a third generation family business, J.J. Paradis Co., Van Buren. Paul was a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 1635 and fourth degree assembly of Van Buren.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Betty (Smith) Paradis of Van Buren; two sons, Jeffrey Paradis and spouse, Paul Fichtner, of Ashland, Mass., and Neil Paradis and his spouse, Allison, of Van Buren; two daughters, Laurie Marcotte and her spouse, James, of Bangor and Kaye Fortin and her spouse, Eric, of Edina, Minn.; a brother, James Paradis of Jackson, S.C.; three sisters, Rose Paradis of Bangor, Joanne Levine of Van Buren Cove at Long Lake and Louise Paradis of Westminster, Colo.; and six grandchildren, Jack, Thomas and Sarah Marcotte, Skyler Paradis, Joshua Fortin and Spencer Paradis-Fichtner.
Visiting hours will be private. Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral Mass to be celebrated 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren.
