BANGOR, Maine — Police dealt with an intoxicated Clinton Street man several times on Friday and arrested him late in the day after he called 911 and then hung up without reporting an emergency, Bangor police Sgt. Ed Potter said Sunday.

John Pettegraw, 34, was disorderly and intoxicated when Officers Joe Page and Chris Blanchard arrived at around 8:40 p.m. to investigate the emergency 911-hangup call.

“He was hollering and screaming at them,” Potter said.

Pettegraw also had his music turned up and refused to turn it down, the sergeant said.

After several disorderly conduct warnings, to which Pettegraw responded with “a few choice words,” he was arrested for disorderly conduct, Potter said. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail and later released, a jail official said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

  1.  No wonder he was swearing when the PD arrived he probably thought he had ordered a pizza.

    1. i think he meant to order from Bo Bo (chinese in the broadway plaza) but instead got the Po Po.

    2. Yes, I guess being drunk affects the speech and hearing, so “police” and “pizza” sound the same.
He might want to just order a calzone next time.

  2. Anyone who questions authority is subject to hard time by police even when the police are wrong. Now this guy might have been wrong. the police need a few mental heath people to help them to understand or work with them.

    1. I don’t think you’re questioning authority as much as challenging it when you’re drunk. But a Bartender might have been of more help then mental health people as they deal with more drunks on a daily basis.

    1. He was calling “911 PIZZA” in New York City!  Well, folks, it’s Clinton Street once again!
