EXETER and BANGOR – Betty Jean Lane, 76, passed away peacefully March 25, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at a Bangor hospital.
Betty was born May 7, 1935, in East Haven, Conn., to the late Valdon and Elizabeth Andrews.
Betty worked for several years as a personal care attendant. Prior to this she and her husband owned and operated Maple Lane Stables, Bangor.
She loved flowers and plants of all kinds, music, reading and writing, but most of all loved spending time with her family. Betty will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Betty is survived by her children, David Lane III, Alan Lane and wife, Gloria, Jessie Lane, Bonnie Morton, Mary Libby and husband, Ed Sr., Paul Lane, and Valarie Burgess and husband, Tom; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Rosemary Pariseau and Myra Andrews; an adopted daughter, Sheila Minty; a sister-in-law, Sherri Andrews; several nieces, nephews and special friends. Betty was predeceased by her husband, David Lane Jr.; and a brother, Valdon Jr.
A graveside service for Betty will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 30, at Exeter Corner Cemetery, Stetson Road, Exeter, with Pastor Stan Griffin officiating. A gathering will be held at the conclusion of the service at Betty’s daughter Mary’s home, 1107 Exeter Road, Exeter. Memorial contributions in Betty’s honor may be made to CancerCare of Maine, care of Healthcare Charities, P.O. Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402 or to an animal shelter of one’s choice. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden.
