Truly, it seemed like the first day of spring. The Essex Street Marsh in Bangor gave up some nice photo opportunities with some chipmunks amorously pursuing the perpetuation of the species. Blossoming willows and working honey bees at the Lyle Littlefield Ornamental Garden in Orono.
Spring had also arrived along the County Road and Stud Mill Road bordering Sunkhaze Meadows National Wildlife Refuge with the appearance of a banded woolly bear caterpillar, mourning doves, mourning cloaks and an Eastern comma.
The more usual suspects were visible earlier, but still signify spring time. The red-winged blackbird and this American robin feigning injury … I’ve never seen a Robin perform this act before.
Have a great spring and keep your peepers open … they’ll be showing up soon!
