BANGOR, Maine — The Aroostook County District Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute multiple charges brought by police against a Madawaska man over an alleged assault in August 2010, an assistant district attorney confirmed this week.
The alleged victim, a woman with whom Douglas M. Collins was in a relationship, called Limestone police on Aug. 14, 2010, to report that Collins had broken into her home in Limestone and assaulted her.
Police later charged Collins with burglary, domestic assault, domestic violence criminal threatening, criminal mischief and harassment by telephone.
Assistant Aroostook County District Attorney John Pluto confirmed this week that the district attorney’s office declined to prosecute all of the charges levied against Collins in connection with the incident.
Aroostook County Superior Court Justice E. Allen Hunter dismissed the case without prejudice on Oct. 14, 2010.

She must have declined to testify. Why else drop charges?
