WESTBROOK – Merton E. Clough, 90, of Saco Street, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Springbrook Health Care. He was born in Somersworth, N.H., son of Arthur E. and Helen L. Piper Clough.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Merton resided in Orrington most of his life. He owned and operated a radio and television business. He was very involved in Orrington town affairs. He was instrumental in organizing the Orrington Fire Department, he operated the town newspaper, the Orrington Gazette; and was a member of Ralph J. Pollard Lodge.
Merton was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite Winchester Clough. He is survived by three sons, Ronald and wife, Colleen Clough, of Scarborough, Eugene and wife, Marisol Clough, of San Jose, Calif., and James and wife, Ellie Clough, of Westbrook; grandchildren, Heidi Labrie, Darren, Kristie and Brynn Clough, all of Scarborough, Daniel O’Keefe of Windham, Collin Clough of Somersworth, N.H., Nicholas Clough of Westbrook, Robert and Tino Sacasa of San Jose, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Megan and Cameron Loiselle, Sidney and Brady Clough, and Cooper Henderson, all of Scarborough; and brothers, Leonard Clough of Connecticut and David Clough of California.
