WATERVILLE, Maine — The father of a missing Maine toddler is disputing police statements that he and others who were in his Waterville home when his daughter disappeared haven’t been forthcoming.
Ayla Reynolds was 20 months old when she was reported missing in December by father Justin DiPietro.
Maine State Police spokesman Stephen McCausland has said DiPietro, his girlfriend and his sister haven’t been forthcoming about all they know about Ayla’s disappearance. Last weekend, McCausland said the three had stopped talking to police.
DiPietro told the Morning Sentinel that if communication has stopped, it’s because questions they ask police don’t get answered.
DiPietro says he has offered tips and theories about Ayla’s whereabouts to police, but follow-up attempts with investigators have gone nowhere.
McCausland on Friday said he stands by his previous statements.

And what would you suggest they do? Break out the rubber hoses? Hit them with saps? Generally beat them until they break?
what about a cadaver dog has that been used ?
I do know at least one of the volunteer searches but she is a ground searcher and does not use a dog. I also know a cadaver dog handler but I haven’t spoken with her so I don’t know if she has been involved or not. But knowing the types of searches she has been involved with in the past it would not surprise me if she has been involved.

So after they beat out of him whatever he knows and the judge tosses it out at trial and he walks out the door what then?

I am so impressed with the way Justin DiPietro has been handing out flyers, leading search teams and generally tearing apart the city to find his poor little daughter.
Oh, wait…nevermind.
I don’t know about his so called “theories” — but here’s a fact for ya Justin…you took your child from a safe environment (her grandmothers care) and whisked her off to Waterville where she sustained a broken arm and other bruises, you refused to let this little 20 month old child speak to her mother even on the phone (she had to be wondering where the only person she ever knew was), YOU my man were totally responsible for the little girl you put to bed that night — YOU decided to leave her alone in a room when you made sure that your girlfriend’s child was safely tucked in beside you and the child’s mother (and your motherly sister made sure her child was safe) AND forget all this because she probably was already given away, sold or worse way before that night even arrived.
and PLEASE do not refer to the fact that none has been proven guilty of the crime of child endangerment or harboring a child or murder of a child for they put me in jail twice already without legal cause this communis country can jail any of us today for we are all guilty and until proven innocent
It’s just a matter of time before Justin DiPietro has a knock on his door from the Police with handcuffs for him. Little girl has a broken arm, blood in the basement, missing from home without a scream from her….and he is giving tips and theories of what happen to her?
He says the police isn’t talking to him. It’s no surprise since police don’t like to share info they may have with a ‘person of interest’.
Unable to account for his missing child, should at least warrant a child neglect charge against the father. The other two could be charged as accessories.
The child was placed in his custody by a state agency. Since the agency oversees custodial care of infants, the agency should conduct its own investigation. The father, his girlfriend, and his sister who readily accepted care of the infant, should be made accountable for the infant’s disappearance. All three should be answerable to the agency which believed it was placing the infant in a safe place. What did they do with the infant?
And, whilst answering the agency’s questions, police can continue to probe area residences where Alya might be.
In this case DHHS would be “acting as agents of the state (i.e. local and state police)” and anything they learned could be excluded from a trial.
