GLENBURN – Lorraine Virginia Amazeen Roach McLaughlin, 92, died peacefully March 28, 2012, surrounded by her family at home. She was born Feb. 5, 1920, in Cornville, the daughter of Clifton A.E. and Mildred Lillian (Rowell) Amazeen.
Lorraine attended school in Cornville and graduated from Skowhegan High School, class of 1938. She married William C. Roach Sr. April 7, 1943, and lived in Portland, Freeport, Cumberland, South Portland, West Stewartstown, N.H., Corinth and Skowhegan. Lorraine’s husband, William, died Sept. 5, 1966, and she married John Mervin McLaughlin Feb. 6, 1971. Lorraine was a member of the Grange for 50 years as an extension member, a 4-H leader and RSVP member. She was a member of Corinth Methodist Church.
Lorraine is survived by her son, William C. Roach and his wife, Marlene Scott Roach; grandsons, Scott and Shad Roach; granddaughter, Sonja Roach McSweeney; great-granddaughters, Amanda Jean McSweeney and Sarah Roach; great-grandsons, Garrett McSweeney, Colby Roach and Jonathan Roach; brother, Laurance F. Amazeen; cousin, Phylis Amazeen Towle; stepchildren, Joel, Larry, Barry McLaughlin and Nancy Adams McLaughlin, and their spouses; several stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren. Lorraine was predeceased by her husbands, William and John; and stepchildren, Dwight, Mervin Lee and Arthur McLaughlin. The family thanks New Hope Hospice for the kind and loving care given to Lorraine.
The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments 2-4 p.m. April 7 at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
