WHITING, Maine — A Lubec man was killed Monday afternoon when a tree fell on him as he worked on a wood lot, according to police.

The body of Edward Dimsmore, 66, was discovered in the Washington County town of Whiting, Maine State Police spokesman Stephen McCausland said Tuesday.

Dinsmore had been cutting trees off Barney Field Road on Monday.

An investigation by state police and Maine forest rangers concluded that Dinsmore had cut two trees at the same time, with one falling as expected and the other pinning him to the ground, McCausland said.

  1. Eddie was a hard worker.  I remember hearing his truck start at 4AM for many years when he lived across the road.  He and his wife Opel were the most excellent kind of neighbors.  They raised three successful children, One of whom Washington County was lucky to keep. I am sure Eddie will be missed by his grandchildren.
