OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine — Police in Old Orchard Beach say they are investigating adult-arranged fights between juveniles at a town park.
Police say they know of four fights between juveniles that took place last month at Memorial Park.
One involved two high school age girls wearing boxing gloves. It was watched by about 40 people, videotaped and posted on the Internet. The parents of one of the girls brought it to police attention on March 23 and said the fight was the result of a bullying dispute.
Police say it appears that two adults may have organized the fights and coached the fighters.
There have been no arrests, but police say charges of harassment or assault could be filed.
Police say they are working with school officials to prevent more fights.

That is just medieval and sick. What happened to our girls having more decorum than boys? The adults were just plain wrong, with a kinda pornographic attitude, if they thought this was fun.

The State of Maine, for years, licensed and re-licensed at least two residential facilities where this type of adult sponsored fighting was encouraged as “treatment.” Where the hell were the police then?

My parents bought me and my brother boxing gloves when I was a kid. They were the rage of the neighborhood until the novelty of bloody noses wore off. :-) Kids could use some pugilistic lessons instead of the video game induced reaction to get a gun.
Boxing gloves, and one on one, in a supervised setting, like a gym, is better then guns, knives, and bats or 5 on one. settle their dispute, and then it done.
Putting on a show for 40 people and whoever else on the internet is not settling a dispute.
Why isn’t it? I’ll bet if the bullied beat the snot out of the bully, no matter how many were watching, the bully would think twice about taking that persons lunch money.

I’m talking about an organized controlled, both parties agree to settle the dispute, but of course that would have to be explained to u.

When I was younger, me and a friend would box all the time. Trouble was, we only had one pair of gloves. We would go bare knuckle for the first round to decide who would get the power glove. Neither of us were ever bullies, but I can tell you that we were NEVER bullied.
