LEWISTON, Maine — A Maine developer in the Lewiston-Auburn area has been sentenced to more than two years in prison for theft of public money and making false claims to the government.
Prosecutors say 47-year-old Travis Soule was sentenced Thursday and ordered to repay $180,000.
The government said Soule lied on Department of Housing and Urban Development loan applications and transferred money that should have been used to rehabilitate low-income rental properties to his personal account in 2007 and 2008.
He pleaded guilty to the charges in July of 2011.

Just how does this surprise anyone? People are just not honest anymore.
He should get time and so should have the turnpike authority who stole from us. Why the difference?
Well connected dems?
Perhaps he should spend a year or so under house arrest in one of those unimproved low income units after he completes his 2 year sentence. A few leaky pipes and drafty windows won’t hurt him, but the other residents might.
