PORTLAND, Maine — Maine’s highest court hears arguments this week in the appeal of a Maine woman serving a 16-year sentence for beating her husband with a baseball bat and staging it to look like a home invasion.
The Maine Supreme Judicial Court hears arguments Wednesday from an attorney representing Linda Dolloff, who was convicted in 2010 of attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault and filing a false report.
Dolloff is accusing prosecutors of misconduct. She further claims the judge erred in allowing certain evidence and statements at her trial.
Dolloff was convicted of beating her husband in April 2009 while he slept at their Standish home. Prosecutors said she then shot herself in the stomach to make it look like a home invasion. The couple was going through a divorce at the time.
Obviously not only men are guilty of domestic abuse.
But I don’t believe her charges were called domestic violence anything by the DA or the courts. They’re keeping the records clear of those foul terms on Ms. Dolloff.
The judge erred by allowing certain evidence and statements at her trial…but no mention of how she erred by beating her hubby with a bat.
I’m all for those supposed Constitutional protections…but an appeals system that is based on trying to throw out evidence that proved you were guilty as opposed to bringing in evidence to prove your innocence is really a bad joke…and it tells me the court got it right.
Real nice lady just what we need back in society. As Mr. Rogers used to say “Would you like to be my neighbor?”
Maybe she was just adhering to the doctrine of “stand your ground”?
She should be given 1 year with 6 years picking up trash on the sides of the road in a orange suit…
