TOPSHAM – Millie Mae McPhail, 87, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012, at Parkview Hospital, Brunswick, after complications from hip surgery. Born April 28, 1924, in Eastport, she was the daughter of Beatrice Hibbard and Dominic Dicenzo.

She attended local schools. On Jan. 24, 1942, she married Lewis I. McPhail who served with the U.S. Army in World War II. Millie and Lewis celebrated their 49th anniversary in January 199l. He passed away May 19, 1991. Millie was employed with Guilford Industries, Eastport, for 10 years and worked for Jacobson Industries as a wreath crafter. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, reading and walking her dog. She loved the outdoors and feeding the wildlife.

Millie is survived by her daughter, Beverly McPhail of Topsham, who she had resided with since 1981; son, Lewis McPhail and his wife, Janet; two other daughters, Betty and her husband, Ray Moore, of Richmond, and Ruby and her husband, Larry Stabrowski, of Indiana; 19 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brother, Buddy Hibbard.

Visiting hours in celebration of Millie’s life will be held 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Demers-Desmond Funeral Home, 34 Cushing St., Brunswick, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 12.
