VEAZIE, Maine — A local couple was charged with felony drug trafficking after Veazie police executed a search warrant last week at their home in Greystone Trailer Park.
Seized during the April 4 search were nearly a pound of marijuana — separated into 25 plastic bags apparently ready for sale — and drug paraphernalia, Veazie police Sgt. Keith Emery said Wednesday.
Police also found a stolen Maine Department of Transportation stop sign in the couple’s bedroom, Emery said.
Nicholas Guiod, 28, is charged with Class C unlawful trafficking in marijuana, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000, sale and use of drug paraphernalia, and receiving stolen property, Emery said.
Although Emery said the police report indicated that Guiod “took full responsibility” for the contraband, his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jacki Lemerich, was charged with the same three offenses.
Lemerich, however, was not arrested because she has a child, Emery said.
Emery said Wednesday that Veazie police obtained a search warrant for the couple’s mobile home as the result of an investigation into alleged drug activity.
Guiod’s criminal history includes fines in 2007 and 2009 for operating a motor vehicle while his license was suspended or revoked and a fine in 2005 for marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession, according to the Bangor Daily News archives.
Guiod and Lemerich both are scheduled to appear at the Penobscot Judicial Center on May 23, Emery said.

Keep him free!
It’s an herb for cryin’ out loud. It costs us $million$ to chase, catch, prosecute, feed & house these people who are not harming anyone. End the prohibition–stop the madness!
You know, when Drug dealers and the government (police) agree to keep cannabis illegal, you think the people would get it. More and more dr’s are writing letters saying that MJ could help them.
prescription drugs are legal, if legally prescribed, and they’re one of the most heavily trafficked drugs right now. You really think if it was legal, there would be no more crime involved? Enjoy your fairytale. You would still have people stealing to be able to purchase it, and others trying to outsell the others, because not everyone is going to dedicate the time to grow for themselves.
what about alcohol
Cannabis is a weed. It is expensive because of the fact that it is illegal and has to be produced underground and traded on the black market. In the free market, supply would soon outstrip demand due to the ease of producing it and the price would plummet. This is why the professional growers in California lobbied against passage of Prop 19 last year–because it would put them out of business or at least severely cut into their profits.
black market are u crazy its everywhere and if they would legalize it your so called “black market” wouldn’t exsist!
Drug dealers everywhere appreciate your support.
Generally speaking cannabis isn’t addictive enough to cause someone to steal to get it,nobody has ever o.d ed on it.Compare that to any other drug.
Just like alcohol? Harmless right? It’s legal and never hurts anyone, right? The legal status of a drug does not change all the scenarios that accompany abuse and addiction in certain hands, they will continue regardless of legal status. I agree jailing people for drugs is not the answer. This man obviously has issues surrounding marijuana. It is his second offense. I personally do not think selling drugs where children are present is “not harming anyone” due to the shenanigans that surround such activities. So, though used in small quantities in a social setting, yes I would agree to the “harmless” comment, where kids are involved nope. Dope fiends will kick in a door and steal whatever if they need it. Not matter if a kid is there or not.
Ha! Greystone TrailerPark all over again! The Veazie PD should install a satellite police station in the middle of the trailer park just for convenience. Would save thousands in gasoline money for the police cars and time and expense for the cops to get there.
Capehart north
All I see here is a usable amount of pot, no big deal, I hear If you keep pot in the fridge in smaller bags it keeps better, That way when your in a hurry you just grab a bag and run. Another waste of taxpayers money..
oh yah the moisture is real good for the mold growth.. (rolling eyes)
Stealing a stop sign is worse than having the dope. Somebody might get killed at that intersection without it.
I agree.
the stop sign was found about 12 years ago on the side of the road. he or jacki never stole it, so if someone had gotten hurt due to this stop sign being destroyed and falling over, it was someone elses fault. Maine should pay better attention to the roads, and the signs one it.
This is beyond stupid to continue the myth of “reefer madness” into the 21st century.
Waste of time, waste of tax dollars, and not in the spirit of “freedom”, on which this Country was founded.
The only crime I see having been committed is being in possession of the stop sign. Chasing down pot users is a waste of time and money.
This guy should have worked at the shoe factory! Wait there is no shoe factory.
He should have got a job at the shirt factory! Wait there is no shirt factory.
Any person can plant a God given seed and support themselves or a small family.
This guy was a positive factor in our economy. Rather than have this person collect a sales tax like the Avon lady….We continue to lie about the imaginary dangers of Marijuana and spend precious resources to cause harm on our own people and economy.
If you post on Facebook a pic of your bong, stash and cash you deserve to get busted…….
When you post a picture on Facebook of your bong, stash and cash, then I would imagine that you are going to get arrested…….
do you know how many people they would arrest if everyone who posted something about weed was arrested? it has nothing to do with Facebook, the world does not revolve around facebook like some people believe. the bong, obviously to smoke the stash out of, how do u know that stash is for trafficking purposes? you dont.
I thought he was the woman. LOL LOL….
