BANGOR, Maine — After five continuous years of growth, revenues at the Hollywood Casino dropped off for the first time in 2011 as the New England gambling market becomes more competitive, according to a new report.

The declining revenues came before the casino added table games to its lineup in March, but the Bangor casino will face increased competition in Maine starting in June with the opening of the Oxford Casino.

John Osborne, vice president and general manager of Hollywood Casino, said competition isn’t the only reason for the decline and doesn’t think it’s indicative of a trend.

Hollywood Casino’s decline in revenues, down 3.6 percent from 2010 to 2011, mirror declines at other New England casinos such as Foxwoods and Monhegan Sun in Connecticut, which both saw declines of between 1 and 2 percent, and Newport Grand in Rhode Island, which saw a decline of 6.2 percent, according to an annual study by the Center for Policy Analysis at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

“That report is a bit misleading,” said Osborne. “The numbers for our revenues that they had, which are correct, don’t show what’s happening on a monthly basis overall, and we’re still showing year after year improvement in revenues.”

According to figures updated monthly on the State of Maine Gambling Control Board’s website, revenue rebounded during the first quarter of this year. The total net revenue for the first three months is $15,175,947.

“It’s actually one of the best first quarters we’ve ever had, and that’s only with two weeks of table games,” Osborne said. “Our revenue for January, February and March of 2010 was $14.5 million, but last year it was $13.5 for the same period.”

Mainers make up more than 95 percent of Hollywood Casino’s clientele, according to the report, and contributed about $62.5 million of Hollywood Casino’s total earnings of $65.5 million in 2011. Gamblers from Massachusetts and New Hampshire each made up about 1 percent of Hollywood Casino’s customers and contributed $577,000 to the casino’s earnings in 2011.

When asked what percentage of Hollywood Casino’s clientele is Canadian, Osborne declined to provide specific data.

“I’m really not at liberty to provide exact numbers on the makeup of our clientele,” he said.

As for the revenue drop in 2011, Osborne put most of the blame on the weather.

“Last year, we basically had one snow day for every day of the week over the winter,” explained Osborne, who said revenue increases from April through December weren’t enough to offset the decreases of the previous three months. “The 3 percent decline they show for the year basically occurred in the first three months, and it was all weather-related.”

While Mainers spent less at the Bangor casino, they spent more while gambling out of state, according to the report. Maine residents spent an estimated $34.3 million at Connecticut’s two casinos in 2011, compared to $26.6 million in 2010, according to the report.

In all, gamblers contributed more than $28 million to the Maine general treasury and to the city of Bangor in 2011 because of their gaming and related activities at Hollywood Casino, according to the report.

  1. Yep, just what we need, more places to help us ship our hard-earned dollars off to out-of-state owners, to the tune of $ 62, 225, 000+.

Oh, and drop off an additional $34.3 mil to Connecticut…Let’s get MORE casinos!

  2. Maybe Mainers are figuring out slot machines are super boring, $25 minimums at the Blackjack  tables are crazy and an hour or two wait for poker aren’t worth the trip to Bangor’s Casino. Bangor’s “Casino” is a joke.

    1. I thought the number of tables they were adding was kind of small… It would be nice if they could add more tables to cut down on the wait for a poker seat and to allow them to offer $15 blackjack hands when it isn’t too busy.

      1.  The State Gaming Commission determines the number of tables they are allowed to have. Sounds like they need to petition to add more poker tables. Good.

        1. I think the law limits the number of tables, I don’t think they can just petition the state to allow them to have any more.

          1.  Ah. Ok.  So a local representative needs to introduce a piece of legislation to amend the number of tables allowed. Let’s get on it.

          2. No the Casino law that voters passed to expand Hollywood Slots into Hollywood Casino states that a Casino has to have at least 14 table games.  But the new Casino bidding law in the Legislature does away with that provision.

        2. They can put in as many tables as they want… The commission hasn’t limited the amount they put in.

    2.  Oh, I don’t know. Seems to me if their is a two hour wait to play poker, somebody thinks Bangor’s Casino isn’t too bad.  And although I don’t go to the casino more than once a year, I certainly don’t think the beautiful new civic arena rising next door is a joke…maybe you are just too sophisticated for this market.

      1.  You mean the beautiful new civic arena the taxpayers of Bangor will pay for after the Oxford casino opens? Yeah, I know the one you mean.

Rather than waiting 2 hours in Bangor for a seat at a table, in 4 hours I can be at Foxwoods, a real casino.

          1. Know what’s really funny? Watching all of you get all worked up by posting a comment that I know will get a bunch of peoples’ panties in a bundle. LOL, fun stuff. Free entertainment :)

          2. Think you are the only person that does that? ;-) Same thing as hitting the slots. Positive reinforcement. Adrenaline rush. Action reaction. Call and response. Rat at the feeder. Animals are so predictable huh?

        1. You are a little light-headed if you think driving four hours and spending double if not triple in money makes Foxwoods a real casino. Look up the Hollywood Casino franchise and you will also see real casinos. If people listened to you, you would have people thinking that the new arena is not a real arena, the airport is not really there, the vibrant community Bangor has become is not real. Sir, are you fake?

    3. They are going to expand were the race book is an that’s going back to  Bass Park plus they have other rooms they can use they need to get the field an want table games that the people want give it time

      1. To add they annouced they are expanding in the future by knocking out a wall and building an addition to add even more Table Games in the future.  But if the Casino Bidding Law and Legion/Club Slots law happens. Wolly you will be seeing more Casinos/Horsetrack Casinos and Slots Parlos in Maine. Hopefully LePage does the right thing. Because it would end this stupid referendum nonsense. We need More Casinos in Maine, much larger Casinos than what we have now. We also need to let the Tribes and Scarborough Downs have one they were the first to ask for one. Before Hollywood Casino and Oxford ever asked for theirs.

    4. Casinos saw a decline together. Even Foxwoods. So your theory is wrong, and traffic is up since the table games addition. Markets go up and down. Relax. With summer coming, things will change real quick as they always do. With the addition of the new arena and the shows bringing in thousands, there will always be enough players. I can see the entrance to Hollywood Casino’s parking garage, and there are cars going in constantly…. all day long. Are they all just asking to use the restroom? Relax… breathe deep. Everything will be okay… :)

      1. Terence, you are always a positive voice of reason.  I left a few bucks at Hollywood Casino last summer.  I had a GREAT time there.  An awesome room that would have been at least 2 to 3x’s the price in CT.  Was able to walk to and from the concert on the waterfront.  Ate at an excellent buffet (very reasonably) all without the benefit of table games.  Can’t wait to repeat the same experience even more often once the new arena opens!

I think it’s great to enjoy a few days vacation in my old hometown!  Many of my friends feel the same way.

        1. Thanks Steve. If enough people from the majority would speak up, it would actually freeze up the BDN comments section. The problem is the few negative people out there always have a forum to give the impression that the majority is them. It is very important if you are positive (business comes to places where there are positive people), to speak up against these bogus attempts to change people’s minds who want change themselves. What city in Maine is changing the quickest? We have exterminated the WE CAN’T people one by one in groups (CasinosNo!, ArenasNo!, NoiseNo!). These clans are out to keep Maine stuck in the 90’s, and they have done that since the 70’s. They are the voices of the negative. The one’s who jump on any negative news and inflate it to a more damaging outlook, the one’s who use misinformation to enforce their own beliefs (their belief is that Maine can’t do anything and they should just realize that). What makes me sick the most? A Bangorian who puts his own city down and the businesses that are trying to succeed here (Penn National, Waterfront Concerts, Global Spectrum, AFF, etc.). Their success is our success. These people (I call them Kings of Queen City) are contributing to their community in big ways. The negative nellies do absolutely nothing for their community and then put down the ones who do. Do we want those people in our city? Hell no. Some of them are just from somewhere else and have a problem with success in Bangor.  Some reside here and hopefully we will make enough ‘bad’ decisions and they will pack up and leave. That will be followed by freebies at the casino! :) Come on down!

          1. I have had nothing but GREAT experiences at Hollywood Slots/Casino!  Even though my parents live a mile and a half from there we get a room, eat, gamble and go to concerts and have a blast!  So do my friends.   I never begrudge losing a few bucks to HS because I know it will help the arena fund for which, as you know, I am a huge proponent.  If I win, it’s just a bonus.

So many of my generation left Bangor due to lack of opportunity and things to do!  My only hope is that the next generation has a chance to live and prosper and enjoy things that people in other cities do.  The days of thinking small have to go!

The negative ones on these threads speak loudly and sometimes appear to have a majority opinion.  Time after time though they have been soundly trounced by people wanting a more viable, thriving city.  It’s obvious though that it will be a never ending battle with some.   All of us that feel as we do need to press on.  Great comments as always T!

    5. It sounds like you are on tilt from taking a bad beat at the tables. What happened, someone with quads beat your full house? Aaaanyway, a two hour wait to get on a table says a lot.

On the subject though, a 3% decrease in most markets in most businesses today is identified as a screaming success. What the story doesn’t have is their bottom line. I would bet that their bottom line is healthier year over year for the same period. They have cut just like anyone else to keep investors happy.

    6. The reason for  few tables is because they want you to lose your money in the slots while waiting for you turn at the card table.. They have a large empty room they could put more table games in.. They are playing a game to extract as much money as they can from people until there  competition opens.. Thenand only then will things change.

    7. What Mainers have figured out is to not believe comments such as yours. Here is some simple math for you to understand. I can and have gone to Hollywood Casino, ate at Epic for two, played for two hours, saw a pretty good musical act and only spent $20. Explain that? I have done this several times. I have gone to a concert on the waterfront and spent $200 for two hours. Had a great time. Explain this? You pay to play in society today. If you don’t want to play, stay home. Go for a walk, watch some analog tv. These are some things you can do that are free.

    8. It seems from your repeated negative comments, that you were dealt a 7 of clubs and a deuce of spades at your last poker game.  Perhaps the same hand in life?

  3. I have a family member living on disability that goes there every day.  It kinda burns me up

    1.  That isn’t the casinos fault is it? That same person would be spending the money on Maine lotto scratch tickets otherwise.  Some people can’t afford the alcohol  they drink everyday (health wise and finance wise)…but we aren’t getting rid of alcohol to save the alcoholics. Personal responsibility.

      1. oh I never said it was the casino’s fault.  It was a more of a comment to show that even the income generated from it might not actually be money that is a profit.  If we are providing the money that people are spending there through our tax dollars then we are losing, not gaining.

        1. You see it, hallelujah, you can see the closed loop!  We need to jump out of that loop, but most cannot see it so can’t escape.

    2. They don’t go there everyday becasue the lose there everyday. I doubt your family member is stupid.

        1. I am not disputing that. I m just saying that some days they must leave ahead, up, with more money than they went in with. Some people actually win there or they would never go back.

  4. What? An economically depressed state like Maine doesn’t have the disposable income to support a casino? Whoda thunk it? lol. People are not flocking to HC from far and wide? It is only locals who are tinkling their money away at HC?

  5. Foxwoods was once a golden ticket for members of the Pequot tribe.  Now its swimming in debt and they had to suspend payments to tribe members.  There is just too much competition now and they took on so much debt for repeated expansions.  You have the largest casino in the western hemisphere at Foxwoods, and the second largest at Mohegan Sun, with more competition from New York, Pennsylvania, soon Massachusetts, and new/renovated casinos in Atlantic City.   I don’t think building a casino in the north east is a sound business decision now.

    1. Too bad for the Mashantucket Pequot “tribe.”  The Pequots were extinct and their reservation abandonded…until the infamous Tom Tureen  arrived on the scene and re-created the tribe out of nothing.  When the “tribe” was fraudulently re-created, it could invite anyone it wanted to become a member, and now the significant majority of the “tribe” is African-Americans, none are actual Pequots, and all have been laughing up their collective sleeves at the stupidity of the Connecticut state government and the feds for making them all millionaires.

      1. Membership is based on proven descent from tribal members listed in the 1900 census.  It is certainly likely that tribal members may only have a very small percentage of “pequot blood”,  and it is plausible that African-Americans could trace ancestry back to 1900 census tribal members.

Most of them are probably broke now though.  They thought the $100K per tribe member stipend would never end,  and they never saved any money.

        1. This is incorrect. When the Pequot tribe was re-created, Connecticut had just sunset the requirement for a percentage of Indian blood. At that point the “tribal council” of non-Indians, as established by Tureen’s henchmen, invited several African-American felons into the tribe, and soon they made up the majority of both the council and the tribe itself. No Indian blood.

If you want the definitive history of this non-tribe and the massive fraud that created both it and Foxwoods, read the book “Without Reservation” by Jeff Benedict. You will find it both fascinating and eye-opening.

  6. And gambling continues to expand in Maine.  Oxford will be open soon.  Yesterday little hole in the walls like the Elks clubs were authorized to install slot machines.   There’s no end to this in sight.

    1. Gas is going up towards 4.20 a gallon and people are still getting gas. this is just sick… why wont people wake up to the crazy gas prices that are popping up all over the state… There is no end to this in sight.. :) Just having fun with that one Bangorian. I know you are too. Love your humor man!

  7. The economy is in the tank. Has anyone noticed? Disposable income for entertainment is nil in this household. How about yours? A trip to Hollywood to spend (yes, spend – not wager, not win, but spend) $100 for a night out isn’t in the “cards” for me right now.

  8. And this is not a surprise that its declining.  Time for new management and workers or just shut the place down.

    1. Every business has ups and downs especially in this economic climate. Things are worse especially it was announced today that weekly unemployment claims went up to nearly 390,000 claims filed.

  9. I do not understand how people can just give their money away in such a fruitless endeavor.  This business is a complete drain on society and our economy.   Nothing worthwhile is produced.

    1.  People give money away in fruitless endeavors everyday. It’s called entertainment. If you go in with the expectation that you are “spending” money to be entertained, not going in to “make” money, then it is no more a drain than any business that caters to peoples leisure budget such as restaurants, hotels, amusement parks, movie theaters etc.

      1.  Sometimes your $200. of entertainment only takes 1/2 hour, a movie would be cheaper.  Try Sunday night if you want the best entertainment. Karaoke!

        1.  Having been to casinos in many places, I think the wagerer decides how long the money will last. ;-)

    2. The same can be said for banks that charge you fees an airlines that charge you all kinds of fees

    3. sergeamtcuinn- you need to get out more. Entertainment is big business. A trip to Vegas and you will see a whole society built on spending your money. It’s called entertainment, and not all of us sit home and watch the DVR recordings. Yes, you are saving money.  But your life is dull.

  10. Yet, people are still gambling. Gambling on the stock market (where you can lose your shirt) Gambling on the price  of a gallon of gas. (where you can lose your shirt) And, gambling at an increasing number of casinos. (where one can actually occasionally WIN.)

  11. I have waited for Blackjack but to wait for hours for a seat, I will go to Foxwoods instead. I don;t like slots without the ching ching noise. It’s not entertainment like it use to be when one visited a casino.
Hollywood needs a lot more room and without craps and Let it ride, it’s not a casino in the grand sense.  No big name bands playing within, again no room.

    1. You will drive four hours so that you dont have to wait an hour? Then you compare the world’s largest casino to any other casino. Bath Salts are illegal now sir!

    1. They will just put it in the fund to give to anybody who shows up who wants/needs food, housing, clothing,….even if they don’t live in Bangor………….just gotta love it.

    2. It won’t.  The revenue is going for the new basketball arena.  The one that will create about 2 dozen minimum wage jobs and zero dollars in property taxes.

  12. Note to reporter Davis: It’s Mohegan Sun, not Monhegan Sun. Monhegan is an island off the coast of Maine. Mohegan is an Indian tribe in Connecticut.

  13. You folks are such downers!  Oh Wait….
Sorry, my friend is here. He wants me to take him to the grocery store to buy water with his SNAP card. The fool dumps it and returns the empty bottles for gambling money at Hollywood Casino. Such a hard worker.
Why can’t he pick up the cans and bottles along the roadside like the rest of us have to so we can pay for a little bit of $4 gas for our cars.

    1. Picking up cans and bottles on the side of the road would require actual effort. To put it another way, he would have to work. If he was interested in working, he would have a job

  14. Just another predator like Morgan Stanley and the great vampire squid Goldman Sachs. Mainers are being taken to the cleaners by rigged games.

        1. So you think people are dumb that the machines are rig ?? if people though they were rig the word would get around an no one would go there nice try. Why do you think they have cameras every were i know what to look for an i can tell you they are every were .

          1. I know alot about slot machines in Maine. I know the difference between payouts and percentages, I know that they balance themselves as a whole. I know they stop paying to balance the payouts as a whole, they are interconneted.. They slots in Maine could pay 150% of the time an the payouts would be way smaller then at the present 93%…  They don not pay walk out prize sizes, because they want you to spend it all before leaving…  Soon enough with the help of a few groups slots and stratch tickets will be  forced by law to be fair payouts

          2. I know more about how the slots are run then 99.999%  of the people in this country… Wollydevil  using the word rigged should be replaced with the word “set”

  15. In the past year this so called “casino” has made their slots damned near impossible to win on When I was going there in 2009 and  2010 I did well and if not at least I got a bang for my buck. I play a minimum of 10 dollars a spin on the machines I play at Hollywood and as of late its been down to CT for me

So far I have done well in CT despite the rising fuel costs However the comps I get down there are amazing

Now considering all this where would you go?

    1. It just was not your day at Bangor  i see people play the  penny  machines an walk out with a hundred bucks in there pocket

      1. Thank you wolly for clearing up the playing field a little. The negative people will say anything to convince you the sky is falling. Their sky is falling, not mine. Bangor has made all the right choices and will continue to make more.

        1. I spend a lot of time in Portland, No way you can compare Bangor to Portland. It’s 10 times the City and they actually have businesses that pay their employees well

          1. I like Portland, don’t get me wrong. But the last few times I have gone there in the summer, it seemed a little boring compared to the choices in Bangor. Sorry, but it’s true. Portland is coming along and they will come close to us someday. With Acadia and Baxter though, and the new arena, full casino, waterfront concerts, KahBang, Senior League World Series, American Folk Festival, West Market Fest, Collins Center, Gracie Theatre, Penobscot theatre, FireBall Run with (censored) concert at the end of the season. All those beautiful cars…. can’t wait!!! Oh whoops… where am I? Sorry, oh we were talking about Portland… um…

      2. If you play the penny slots you will find that for any chance to win you have to bet $1.50 a swing. some penny game max bets are $2.50 to $5.00 a swing…. so getting 1 hundred out of a machine that cost 5 bucks a swing isn’t that good.. at 3 seconds per swing you lose.. Oxford here we come!!!

    2. Hollywood Casino would be the smarter choice. We are building a society where you don’t have to drive away for anything and yet some people are driving. They will come to their senses at some point. Not us. Bangor has become the excuse to not need Portland, Boston, Conn. etc. We are saving money when we stay closer to home. Makes perfect cents!

      1. Building a society..LOL!!! Sounds like the the 1940’s in Germany… I’m also sure the word Stake Holders are used instead of homeowners in that Dictionary…
What is your stake in the whole thing?

  16. I stopped going there a year ago. I grew tired of having to “run the gauntlet” of cigarette smokers posted like sentries at any entrance I attempted to use. I have no issue with folks who choose to smoke, but there is a law requiring smokers to remain a certain distance from any entrance while partaking. The old Bangor slots was even worse, and management could apparently care less.

  17. Where are all those high rollers from out of state these games were supposed to attract to spend their money in Maine?  Instead the owners and the government are getting rich off the backs of the people in one of the poorest states in the country    This is very sad and will not help  our Maine  residents to prosper.

    1. imp1- you watch too many movies. The tables games were just put in. Do you travel much before spring summer? This report is from last season, when it was slots. Please pay attention.

  18.  My heart goes out to the folks at Hollywood slots. Taking such a huge loss of revenue is outrageous. After all, they only could muster a scant 65.5 million, with 62.5 million coming from Mainers.  Don’t they realize these are hard times and nobody has extra cash to gamble away ( oops, I mean to pay for entertainment ).  HC has become a big joke in my eyes. When they first opened, I too could play and come away with a win for an evening of gaming, nothing big, but enough that persuaded me to return. NO MORE, you can sit and play the nite away and all you do is pour dollar after dollar into machines that DON’T PAY.  If you don’t believe me ask anyone on the gaming floor how they are doing.  They have convinced me that I can spend my money elsewhere and have more fun. I’ve made my last trip to that pit.  I bet more and more people will feel the same unless HC decides to up the payouts and offer more perks than a $5.00 free slot play and a 1/2 off lunch.

    1. If that it so my brother watch a lady play a slot machine for 15 mins an she left my brother sat at the same machine after three spins he won 50 bucks

      1. At 1/2 dollar a spin and it take 3 seconds  between spins, $50 won’t last long.. I sure your brother walked out with the fifty right!!!…  if so he didn’t help in the 65.5 millon they made last year.

Payouts should be in the hundreds..  I always donated half my winnings when they were at the old place. I have not donated any money since they moved to the big building.

  19. The psychology of reinforcement  is what makes people return to casinos. No win too many times, no return.  You’d think operators know this including the lottery managers in every state.  I agree that ONCE UPON A TIME I could enjoy a few hours at the slots but no longer is that true.  It swallows the money in a blink so I don’t go back like I use to.       I am happy to see Oxford opening. For one, it is closer for me and for two, competition is good.  I’ll give it an occasional whirl but I won’t be driving to BAngor much.

    1. Well, if you come back to Hollywood Casino, will you ‘play misty for me’? Sorry, couldn’t resist.

  20. Face it, folks like casinos because they are supposed to be fun and chancy.  I hadn’t been to Hollywood Slots for a few years after a very disappointing meal there.  A few of us recently went for an outrageously expensive overnight in their hotel, and equally expensive day of gaming.  Frankly, the place is boring. No winners around us, and none announced while we were there.  It was sad really…folks just sitting, hitting a button over and over…no payouts or teasers to ramp up the energy. Boring.  And the food is still lousy nasty…

  21. That the casino is soaking Mainers and not drawing out-of-staters is shocking news.

    Except to everyone.

    1. At $4.00 a gallon, VAgas might be the better entertainment deal but don’t count on winning any more than you do in BANGOR.

    2. People that can’t afford to go to Vegas? Who’d have wanted to go out in the Connecticut woods 20 years ago?

  22. This is presented as a surprise?  Revenues will drop even more when other casinos open. The percentage of customers who are Maine residents will rise further.

    1. So you think that people from  Bangor or people that live 45 mins away will drive futher to go to  Oxford  ?? I know i won’t ile get on 95 in Waterville an have a strigh shot to Bangor an no other towns or cites to go thu

      1. No, I think that people who live on the other side of Oxford will stop there rather than continue on to Bangor.

        1. They will go to any Casino just as long as they have a good entertainment experience and good resturants and shops to shop at.  It’s all about gaining the most for bang for their bucks.

    1. Taxes my friend taxes.  Although we could just reduce the school budget a little if our debt service on the arena gets too high. We have a 20 year mortgage.  I am not sure the annual debt service but based on a 3-4% bond rate, I’d guess the principle is about 90 million over the 20 years…you do the math.

  23. Hey posters, lighten up, a casino is something to do. There was not one before, and besides, you do not have to go there.

  24. The State Regulate’s Gambling and they are in Business with the Casinos for 39% of the take…  I wonder who they are looking after???

Time for a fair gaming law passed by the people of Maine, to make sure that the consumer is getting their dollars worth..
We have consumer protection laws that protect us from everything in this State except Slots. all because the State has their fingers in the till…

  25. My opinion why things have slowed, (You know what they say about opinions) Is that the price of gas, and food, and everything else is going up so high, that people cant afford it to go to the casino anymore… I bet (again another opinion) that if the price of gas, and food, ever goes down, then the people of Maine and our neighbors will once again return to the casinos and spend their money.. But even if the price of gas goes down i sure don’t think the price of food will go down..

  26. All these $millions are coming out of the pockets of Maine families, many of whom have no business gambling their earnings away. However, to each their own vices.

  27. Wow. Big boost to tourism. Were we being lied to? Frankly, I think the Bangor “racino” has stunk from the beginning. Maybe Oxford can do it “right.” If they do, I ‘d hate to be invested in Bangor.

  28. Personally I could care less if the the place closed. I will never go there so it means nothing to me. Would rather go to the horse tracks like Saratoga or places like that to see big money races. Much more fun than the ones around here.

  29. Oh oh, there goes the free new Arena that Bangor residents were sold when they voted to build it.  It’s free, Hollywood Slots is paying.  I guess maybe that was a little over aggressive thinking.  Oh well, so what if property taxes go up, we got it!!!!!

    1. C’mon!  A 3% decline in revenues now has Bangor taxpayers paying for the new arena?  I expect that number will improve greatly once the table games are added in and the new arena opens.  Too many good things are happening in Bangor for this not to work.  Think positive!

  30. hollywood slots is a joke compared to mohegan sun and foxwoods in ct they have headline performers, boxing events.Maine needs a large casino and event center such as these. But church lady will win out and another state will get maine’s revenue.

  31. Gee, you would think this was unique to just Maine.
Foxwoods is tightening it’s belt too. So aren’t other
    casinos.

A good way to bring customers to Bangor Casino is to have Casino bus’s from all stopts along 95 and bring then in .
Casinos are a day of fun.

Load up the bus’s from the College’s and let the kids have fun.

Load up the bus’s from New Hampshire -Vermont and bring them to Maine – enjoy the day in Maine -Portland – Bangor -Vacation spots – Bar Harbor etc.

Bangor could use a water park for the summer and amusement rides

Bring them in from Canada and by Cruise Ship and use the Airports.

Maine is a great place .

Redevelop the close military bases – bring some life and business to Maine.
