MACHIAS – Elwood Graydon Hartford, 81, passed away peacefully April 10, 2012, with family by his side. He was born Dec. 26, 1930, in Columbia Falls, to Graydon and Florence (McKenney) Hartford.
Elwood worked in the lumber industry for many years as a carpenter and sawyer. He also spent some time as a blueberry grower and worked for Washington and Hancock counties’ winterization program. Elwood enjoyed fishing, hunting and sightseeing in his car. He was especially fond of his Sunday visits with his grandchildren, Lynnsey and Daniel.
He was predeceased by his parents, Graydon and Florence Hartford. He is survived by his son, Barry Hartford of Whitneyville; sister, Elna Pearson and her husband, Jim, of Chelmsford, Mass.; daughter-in-law, Cindy Hartford; beloved grandchildren, Lynnsey and Daniel Hartford, all of Machias; nephew, Toby Ringdahl of Chelmsford, Mass.; and great-nephews, Cameron and Mathew Ringdahl.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, April 16, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 220 Court St., Machias.
