DOVER-FOXCROFT – Lyle B. Grant, 85, passed away peacefully Friday, April 13, 2012, surrounded by his family at Mayo Regional Hospital. He was born March 2, 1927, in Garland, son of Ray and Lizzie (Burgess) Grant.
Lyle grew up in Dover-Foxcroft on the family farm. Lyle enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping and spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Lyle was predeceased by his parents; and three brothers, Kenneth, Erlon and Herb. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 51 years, Myra (Haskell) Grant are four sons, Robert Grant and his wife, Sherry, of Florida, Kevin Grant and his wife, Nancy, of Ripley, Burgess Grant and his partner, Rose, of Dover-Foxcroft and Eric Grant and his wife, Marcie, of Bradford; one daughter, Karen Maharaj and her husband, Raj, of Dexter; 10 grandchildren, Becky Grant, Amy Miller, Angie McCullagh, Mike Grant, Matt Grant, Allison Grant, Kristina Richards, Katie Saunders, Suzanna Richards and Courtney Grant; and five great-grandchildren, Rachel and Megan Beckwith, Aiden Grant, Aiden Miller and Carter Lyle Saunders.
At Lyle’s request, there will be no visiting hours. Friends and family are invited to gather in his memory 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, at Piscataquis Valley Fair Ground’s dining hall. Those who wish may make donations in Lyle’s memory to a charity of their choice. Please visit
