DEXTER, Maine — A local man was arrested on a domestic assault charge over the weekend for breaking his girlfriend’s phone and slapping her in the face, according to police.
Daniel Watson, 22, of Dexter was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with domestic assault, a Class D crime, Dexter police Sgt. Kevin Wintle said Tuesday.
Wintle said Watson’s girlfriend alleges that Watson grabbed her cellphone and threw it across the floor at a Liberty Street apartment, breaking the screen.
She told police that when she went to pick up the phone, he slapped her in the face, grabbed her and threw her across the floor before she was able to get away to call 911 at 2:40 p.m. Sunday.
Watson was arrested by Officer Todd Lyford at a School Street apartment and was bailed out of the Dexter Police Department on the same day.

Dexter seems like a nice little town to avoid. Maybe we could start a list an give the towns to avoid a rating of 1-10. Dexter being a 12.
That’s a pretty ignorant comment to make. You are placing judgement on an entire town of people based on the few that are dumb enough to committ crimes. I live in Dexter and am very proud to raise my children here knowing that they are safe and known by most of the town. It is said that it takes a village to raise a child and I am lucky enough to have this particular village!
“it takes a village to raise a child.”
so, can we assume that your children are raised by the… Village People?
I agree with Shawna. Dexter gets a bad rap but it’s actually a nice little town.
I’ve noticed many articles regarding incidents that occur in Dexter listed in Piscataquis news lately. For the record…Dexter is in Penobscot County not Piscataquis. We haven’t moved the county lines to adopt them yet.
