BIDDEFORD, Maine — Amtrak officials have identified the man who was killed when he was struck by a Downeaster train on Monday as Sean Page, 40, of Biddeford.
Page was struck by the southbound train while walking on the railroad tracks.
Pan-Am Railways, Biddeford police and Amtrak are continuing to investigate, said Christina Leeds, a spokeswoman for Amtrak, which operates the Downeaster.

Let this be a warning. Walking on the tracks is trespassing. It is illegal for a REASON! Trains can not stop on a dime.
Walking on the tracks 8(
Does anyone think liquor might be involved?
I admit to not growing up near train tracks, but how do people manage to get hit by a train? I mean, even if you were walking on tracks, one would think you would hear the train coming for miles away and have plenty of time to get off the tracks, assuming you wanted to get off the tracks. How does this happen?
I was wondering the same exact thing. My first thought was maybe he was in a spot where there was nowhere to go, but judging from the pictures it looks like he could have stepped right off… very strange.
I guess trains are quieter than they used to be.
I highly doubt this story was filed from Biddeford…
what???
RIP Sean Page.
I think trains go to fast. maybe a train speed limit set at 32 miles per hour with a horn that is on at all times.
I think they should use some of their profit and give it to the family. Trains are bad and should be fenced off.
How is it the railroad’s fault if someone stands in front of a train? Is it my fault if you jump out in front of my car on the turnpike when I’m going 65 miles an hour?
I cannot fathom spending that much money to change all the tracks and trains around the nation when you could just educate people to stay off train tracks.
I ride the Downeaster and wait for it at the station every morning. Unless you are totally despondant there is no way you cannot hear the approach of this train. I fish on a stream that runs under the tracks and can hear the train and it’s whistle for miles before it arrives. The whistle blows so often that people are trying to get them to tone it down in some towns. So if you think this train sneaks up on people you have not been anywhere near it. I can say that no matter what speed the train is going, most of the people that get struck by a train was not because of the speed it travels. Thats why the signs are out there..NO TRESPASSING. My sympathy to the family.
