AUGUSTA, Maine — Four of Maine’s top law enforcement officials will travel to New Hampshire to attend services for slain New Hampshire police Chief Michael Maloney.
Maloney was weeks from retirement when he was killed April 12 during a drug raid in the coastal town of Greenland.
Among the Maine officials attending Maloney’s wake on Wednesday and memorial service on Thursday are Col. Robert Williams, Deputy Chief Ray Bessette and Majs. Christopher Grotton and Gary Wright, according to McCausland.
All four officers will participate in the law enforcement walkthrough in Hampton, N.H., on Wednesday.
Department of Public Safety Spokesman Stephen McCausland said in a Wednesday morning news release that dozens of Maine officers will gather at the Cabela’s parking lot in Scarborough and travel to New Hampshire for Maloney’s memorial service on Thursday. The procession will leave at 8 a.m.
This is horrid. The war on drugs must come to an end, it is madness. How many more soldiers must we lose for this to be self evident. War is not the answer.
