AUGUSTA, Maine — An Augusta man who held his girlfriend against her will in their city apartment for several days, beating her and burning her with cigarettes, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Robert Allan Horr, 51, was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to kidnapping and aggravated assault. Charges of domestic violence terrorizing and criminal restraint were dismissed.

Prosecutors say kept the 58-year-old woman in the apartment from July 31 to Aug 2. She escaped to a neighbor’s home while Horr was asleep. The victim was treated at a hospital for injuries including a broken wrist and cigarette burns.

The Kennebec Journal reports that the prosecutor called it one of the worst cases of domestic violence he has seen.

Horr said he was drinking and didn’t remember anything.

    1. I agree. Being drunk or drugged up and “can’t remember” is no excuse. He chose to drink and get stupid. He is responsible for his actions. 10 yrs. What a joke.

      1. I find it impossible to believe that during her several day ordeal that he was continuously black-out drunk.  He had to sleep at some point.

  1. This article needs to be forwarded to Mr. Horr’s new roommates.  Make his ten years feel like an eternity.

  2. Drunk or not, burning someone with cigarettes and breaking their arm? This guy has some real problems that need fixing. He will however, learn more bad behavior while in prison and come out worse than when he went in.

    1. So your solution is ??????????????

Lock him up for 50 years????

Actually, now that I think about it, that actually sounds pretty good.

  3. When you folks meet your future spouse at a bar/pub don’t be surprised when issues arise because of drinking.

  4. Well, you have to admit it’s kind of a gray area because there is no specific law against holding your girlfriend against her will in a city apartment for several days, beating her and burning her with cigarettes.
