HOLDEN, Maine — A 17-year-old Holden boy called 911 early Friday morning looking for a wrecker after he crashed his pickup truck, but when police arrived they discovered the Brewer High School student had been drinking and driving, Holden police Sgt. Gene Fizell said.
“He had attended some sort of social gathering” where alcohol was served, the sergeant said.
Where the teenager, who was not identified because he is a juvenile, had been drinking is still under investigation and may lead to additional charges, Fizell said.
He was charged with operating under the influence at around 5:45 a.m. after police found his truck stuck in a ditch at the end of Fisher Road. The remote road is located off Mann Hill Road and is a dead end.
“The young man drove straight into the trees,” Fizell said.
The front fender was ripped off when the teen reversed the vehicle to get out of the trees.
He then backed into the ditch and got stuck.
“He was not injured,” Fizell said.
Why the teen was on the dead-end road is unknown, since he is familiar with the area, the sergeant said.
His alcohol consumption “may have caused him to be disoriented,” Fizell said.
The teenager was taken to Bangor Police Department for an Intoxilyzer test, which showed his blood alcohol level exceeded the state’s legal limit of 0.08 for adults. Because he is underage, any amount of alcohol in his system could have resulted in an OUI charge, Fizell said, adding the young man’s test result clearly indicated he was intoxicated.
After being booked on the drinking and driving charge, he was released to his parents.

I didn’t think alcohol could make you THAT stupid!!!
“Attended a social gathering.” …Sargent Fizell must have taken that from Emily Post’s book on good manners….well put officer!
FYI for next time soon, unnamed teen boy: Run like the wind home, sleep it off, then report it stolen.
Not very smart to tell a kid that! More like DON’T DO IT AGAIN! LET THIS BE A LESSON TO HIM! Jeesh and we wonder where these kids get it from.
I’m not sure this Einstein is the reading type.
Just do not report it stolen. the po po will car back saying we found your truck right where you parked it. Leaving the scene is not as bad an an OUI. Just saying do not get caught In a lie say nothing.
Good one.
What if he killed himself or another? Should he still run like the wind home? Look, I’m not a idiot who doesnt remember what it was like to be 17. And I was no angel myself. However, as the parent of teenagers now, I would want to know who the irresponsible person was who supplied the booze. Its bad enough to supply the alcohol and almost forgivable. But when you then let a intoxicated kid hop into his truck and go off down the road??? As a parent I’d be more concerned with that than the actual procuring of the party favors. Some teens are going to drink, some of the time. Thats a fact of life in the culture we live in. But we cant allow people to get a kid intoxicated and then let them get behind the wheel. Thats more than just irresponsible, thats plain old stupid.
Wow.
“may have caused him to be disoriented,” Damn, thats what it does to me too.. ; )
Shouldn’t CH 2 investigate ” the social gathering” and count how many Bapst and Brewer athletes are involved?
