BANGOR, Maine — A female transient who bit a teenager, drawing blood, during a fight downtown on Friday and later attempted to bite a Bangor police officer in the leg is facing six charges, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Monday.
Cheyenne Souppa, 21, was involved in a group fight involving at least five people at Pickering Square around 5:50 p.m. Friday when she reportedly bit a 17-year-old girl she believed was sleeping with her boyfriend, the sergeant said.
“The female victim showed officers a fresh bite mark on her arm that actually punctured her skin,” Edwards said in a statement.
He said Souppa was out of control and fought with Officers Taylor Bagley and Joe Baillargeon when arrested for disorderly conduct.
“She was handcuffed and fought violently [while being taken to] to the police car, where she was able to slip out of the handcuffs and attempt[ed] to punch the officers,” Edwards said.
Souppa was handcuffed again, taken to the Penobscot County Jail and charged with assault, disorderly conduct and refusing to submit to arrest.
Three hours later, Bagley returned to the jail to take Souppa to a local hospital as part of a bail condition, Edwards said.
As soon as they arrived, “Souppa became belligerent and verbally abusive to staff and [Bagley],” the sergeant said.
She was warned that she would be charged with disorderly conduct but refused to calm down, even after Bagley removed himself in an attempt to “minimize Souppa’s frustration,” Edwards said.
Souppa was arrested “and while being escorted to the police car was flailing and kicked a dent in the side of … car,” the sergeant said. When “placed on the ground [she] tried to bite the officer’s leg.”
Souppa was returned to jail and was charged a second time with disorderly conduct as well as criminal mischief and violation of conditional release. She was released at court on Monday, a jail official said.

I remember a long time ago ads paid for by the Republican gubernatorial hopefuls that they didn’t want to “See Maine become another Massachusetts.” I think Massachusetts could run ads that say, “Let’s not let Massachusetts become another Maine, vote No on Scott Brown.”
Leave it to left-winger to turn severe anti-social behaviors into a campaign rally.
And urge people not to vote for a Republican Candidate for a US Senate Race in Massachusetts in the online comments section of a Maine newspaper.
Wow, Scott Brown is a senator for two years and has somehow managed to turn Massachusetts into a crap hole all on his own. I must be confused. I thought perhaps it had something to do with the four Speakers of the House in Massachusetts(all Democrats) who have indicted, tried, convicted and imprisoned in Federal Correction Facilities or given terms of Federal Probation.
Yes, go ahead Massachusetts, vote in Elizabeth Warren!!!! That way you can have the male equivelent of John Kerry as your new Senator.
Warren and Kerry are multi millionaires but dont let that confuse you. They are the part of the 1% that are the good guys.
I’d vote for
Cheyenne Souppa before any of those Massachusetts democrats…
With the list of past candidates one would imagine you supported with your vote in the past, that really isn’t a stretch by any means.
I dont know that I would go that far, given the choice I think I might just sit that election out.
No, you’re right. You are confused. Confused and creative at the same time. I never said Massachusetts is a crap hole because it’s not. In fact, I have been offered a job there and I am accepting. There are no jobs in Maine. You are what we call a “creative reader”. I’m sure you performed horribly on the reading comprehension section of standardized tests. Maine’s economy is in the toilet while MA has one of the best in the USA. If people want to remain here and live a backwards way of life and be willfully ignorant of facts and “book lernin”, that’s their choice.
ps Maine’s current government under LePage was voted the 8th most corrupt in the nation a few weeks ago. Feast on that culinarian.
Good Riddance
Send me the link to that if you could please. Hopefully you will like Massachusetts. I used to live in Lee, Salem and then in Boston. I worked for the Four Seasons Hotel and the Museum of Fine Arts Culinary Department. You might want to try another trick out of the democrat operative playbook. Telling people they dont know how to read or cant comprehend anything when they call you out on your ridiculous comments is getting kind of old.

Thanks for sending the links. I appreciate you sending something that can be used to back up claims that are being made.

You just might fit in with Cambridge. They too have a ‘different’ way of looking at things. Witness the carpet bagger from Oklahoma running agains Scott Brown–Granny Warren– the one who came up with the OWC movement. Ya know, the Harvard professor…..? BYE BYE
Just how, pray tell, did you get off on the ridiculous tangent about another State’s Senator affecting something up there? Are you using ‘creative commenting’ in abstracts?
Third boxcar midnight train,
destination Bangor Maine.
I guess they can’t all be Roger Millers.
Ahhh. A classic! Now I’ll be singing it all day long.
“Dang me” may also be appropriate.
Haha, I wish that “grocery and half the rent” only cost $14.27 these days.
Someone wrote a parody to that song a couple months ago about the criminal element. T’was quite good, actually. Anyhow..it’s sad someone so young can fall so swiftly.
Class act.
A female 21 yr old transient – this is sad. Something needs to be done about that area of Bangor. Keep in mind – biting and drawing blood – hopefully she doesn’t have AIDs or Hepatitis.
Is there some reason why the Bangor Police Department is unable to get Pickering Square under control? How about you post a cop there all day for about six months and clean that mess up?
Are you going to pay for that? Its a hub which include the center of the commercial district as well as a heavily used BAT bus station.
What is the “attraction” for transients in Bangor, Maine, anyway? Anyone know? From the news reports probably 98% of them have some social, mental, emotional, alcohol, drug, sex or other disorders. Could it be the multitude of drug rehab centers, free “come-down” drugs and whatever else or what? From what people tell us, Bangor was built on a transient economy during the lumbering and shipping days, and then enjoyed many years of nearly crime-less status and civil and social comfort. Bangor was a very sociable community, it seemed, even when the Air Force was stationed out at Dow.
More lyrics from Roger Millers 1964 tune, “King of the road”….
I know every engineer on every train. All of their children, and all of their names. And every handout in every town. And every lock that ain’t locked when no one’s around
Rooms to rent (let) for 50 cents
No phone , no food, no pets
I ain’t got no cigarettes!
I smoke old stogies I have found
Short but not too big around
I’m a man of means by no means….
Are we dating ourselves? Fine by me!
Methadone, and way to liberal housing vouchers. To many handouts. The literally come in on buses to take advantage of city benefits which are handed out.
where are the parents? this is disgusting and they need to start shipping these kids to Windham like they did back when I grew up.
Maybe she should be checked for rabies?
I’d at least get a tetanus shot. The human mouth is filthy.
What is needed in Pickering Square IS a Democrat! May I suggest a drunken Kennedy to add to the mix?!!
Hey boyfriend, (alleged source of conflict in above article) Run as fast as you can: join the military or hike the Appalachian trail south with no return trip planned. Boyfriend, if you decide to stay in Maine and continue this relationship–buy some chaps and other leather apparel for protection–she bites.
