ELLSWORTH – Marguerite Frances (Moon) Little, 90, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Courtland Rehabilitation and Living Center, Ellsworth. She was born Nov. 7, 1921, in Hancock, daughter of Alvin and Eva (Gatcomb) Moon.

“Rete,” as she was affectionately called by many, was educated in the Hancock and Ellsworth school system. She lived in Ellsworth since 1932. She spent her life caring for many children. The Joys, Moores, Scotts, Sanborns, Spauldings, Conarys and Fitchs all had the privilege of being cared for by Rete. She was patient and kind, and loved each one of her babies. She maintained a special lifelong bond with her goddaughter, Melissa and her brother, Ernie. She was married to James A. Little, Sept. 6, 1975. Marguerite was a member of United Baptist Church, Ellsworth, since 1953 and was baptized April 5 of that year. She was involved in many of the church activities and participated in Ladies Aide, the Bible class, Secret Pal Tea and many other groups. She was a true Red Sox fan and rarely missed a game. She faced many challenges in her life, which she conquered with grace and dignity. She was not to be kept down and would take on anything that came her way.

Marguerite is survived by her beloved goddaughter, Melissa (Spaulding) Anderson and companion, Carl Homes; dear friend, Annette (Anderson) Smith and husband, Jackie; several nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, James A. Little; sister, Isabel (Moon) Urann; and brothers, Morris and Milton Moon.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, where funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Thursday, April 26, with the Rev.
