NEWPORT, Maine — Gov. Paul LePage is meeting with business and community leaders in central Maine for his 14th Capitol for a Day event.
The governor is visiting Penobscot County on Thursday. He is making stops at C&L Aerospace in Bangor, a vocational school in Lincoln, Snap Space Solutions in Brewer, PDQ Door in Hampden and the Vic Firth manufacturing plant in Newport.
LePage will end the day at a town-hall style meeting at Nokomis Regional High School, where he and members of his Cabinet will meet with the public from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The governor has been holding Capitol for a Day events in a different county each month since taking office after he revived an old program to bring Maine’s capitol to towns and cities across the state.
….and the Emporor will be fully clothed.
As far as I know this is the first governor the state has had that is interested in the workers of Maine enough to actually spend some time visiting them on their turf. I’ll add that with no plans to run for re election this is rare indeed. Although his mannerisms sometimes pi$$ off a few , he appears to really be on track with turning this state around. His pro business stance might actually help this state in the long run.
Wrong. Way wrong. LePage copied “Capitol for a Day” from Jock McKernan, who would visit several businesses during each of those monthly events. Angus King also visited hundreds of businesses across the state, listened to their issues and did much to assist them. Baldacci did less, but he did visit businesses. LePage is no more innovative nor engaged than his predecessors; in fact he’s copying them and presenting it as his idea. In my view that’s pretty weak.
I only recall Baldacci visiting business for a photo shoot to announce that he (the state) was helping create jobs and the economy by giving that specific company a TAX BREAK stimulus. Too bad he couldn’t and didn’t use that economic concept to help all companies in Maine grow.
