EASTPORT and VEAZIE – Daniel C. Galen, 83, died unexpectedly April 30, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 24, 1928, in St. Stephen, N.B., Canada, son of Daniel and Alma (Chaffee) Galen.
Danny had many dear friends who he entertained with his great sense of humor in Veazie, on his front porch in Eastport during the 4th of July, and at the IGA Happy Hours. Danny’s life was his family and his greatest joy was watching his grandson, Ryan Logan, play baseball from t-ball through college leagues. The life of everyone who knew Danny was affected by his genuine zest for living. His other passion was being an avid Red Sox fan. He seldom missed watching a game.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Barbara; his beloved and devoted daughter, Susan, and son-in-law, Tom Logan; his “all-star” grandson, Ryan Logan, and his beloved wife, Beth; and his many special friends, both present and past. He was always grateful for the compassion and care shown to him by Barbara, Susan and his friends and family.
Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, May 3, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor. Interment with military honors will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor.
