ORLAND – “A man’s greatness is measured by the lives he has touched.” As a husband, father, grandfather, musician and friend to so many, Richard Raymond has touched many lives in many ways. And to them he was a great man. Our loss became heaven’s gain when he left us to be with our Lord, April 29, 2012, after a courageous battle with heart disease. Dick was born July 8, 1937, in Boston.

He was raised in Portland and graduated from Deering High School. He graduated from Northeastern University and pursued a career in computer sales and marketing. He lived in Richardson, Texas for more than 40 years before retiring to his heaven on earth on Toddy Pond.

He leaves behind Astrid Mattson Raymond, his loving wife of 52 years; his daughter, Katherine Sorce and husband, Joseph, of Dallas; son, Richard Jr. and wife, Elena, of Phoenix; and grandchildren, Sarah and Joseph Sorce and Connor and Julia Raymond; brother, Donald Raymond of Yarmouth; and sister, Betty Boothby of Concord, N.H. He was predeceased by his father, Harvey Nelson Raymond and mother, Doris Dillingham Raymond.

A celebration of Dick’s life will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at Franklin Street Methodist Church, Bucksport. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be made to Bagaduce Music Lending Library, 3 Music Library Lane, Blue Hill, ME 04614. Arrangements are under the direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
