DETROIT — Detroit police say they’re holding two men for questioning in the slayings of four women, three of whom had been linked to online ads for escorts.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Eren Stephens says the 32-year-old and 24-year-old were placed “in police custody for questioning in regard to the Backpage cases.”

The men were arrested by members of the Violent Crimes Task Force about 6 a.m. Tuesday north of Detroit in Sterling Heights. They weren’t charged as of late afternoon.

The badly burned bodies of two women were found in the trunk of a burning car on Christmas Day. The bodies of two other women were found Dec. 19 in separate car trunks.

Three of the four slain women had placed escort ads on the Phoenix-based website Backpage.com.

  1. Is this about:

    Detroit, Alabama
    Detroit, Illinois
    Detroit, Kansas
    Detroit, Maine
    Detroit, Michigan
    Detroit, Oregon
    – or –
    Detroit, Texas?

Or is the newspaper business down to only four “W”s now?
