PORTLAND, Maine — Gov. Paul LePage is taking his campaign against domestic violence to a Portland high school.
LePage travels to Cheverus High School on Wednesday to share his experience with domestic abuse and his thoughts on how Mainers can address the problem. The governor will tell Cheverus male athletes that men must be part of the solution in reducing that crime, and the athletes will present LePage with a signed pledge to show their commitment to end abuse in Maine.
In the evening, a public forum on the issue will be held at Cheverus. Besides LePage, panelists will include John Morris, Maine’s commissioner of Public Safety; District Attorney Kathy Slattery; Maj. Chris Grotton of the state police, and Julia Colpitts, executive director of the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence.
I’m curious why he is doing this at a private school and not a public one. I think he would have a larger audience if he was in a public school.
