BANGOR, Maine — A group of people gathered along the Bangor Waterfront on Thursday to pray as part of National Prayer Day.
Prayers were offered to city officials, schools, armies and members of the fire department.
Another group gathered at noon in Post Office Square in Belfast.
About 50 people listened as ministers from around Waldo County took the podium for a few minutes and prayed for Israel, the persecuted, the imprisoned, those who use social services and others.
Where is the liberal, anti-religious hate groups on this? Oh yea, Obama is using it as a campaign strategy so it must be ok.
I am always impressed when a poster takes something positive and has to make a political statement/comment out of it.
Poster has a point. As a rule the atheists here would be all over this article in a big way.

They are just praying, they aren’t trying to inflict their view’s on to others via the legislature. That is why the Atheists are quiet. As an Atheist, I say they aren’t hurting anyone, if they want to spend a nice day outside talking to themselves, have at it.

O and our christmas concert? We sang screamo hardcore music. Really?? The guy is twisted. Some guy sexually harassed a girl in my school too but because the guy was the son of kens bff they swept it under the rug. Lol..useless…

Didnt know we needed a special day to pray. I do it just fine every single day of my life, and never even knew of a holiday for it…guess you learn something new everyday.
You guys have a big beautiful gym for your church..use it…stop cluttering the waterfront

We should pray for our leaders in Washington. They need it more than anyone else.
Before we put something in the plate, let’s make sure we’ve got the distinction between the prayers and the preyers. Sometimes the former is a tactic of the latter, and things get confused. Elmer Gantry et al knew that much.
Guess they missed Bible class on the day appropriate praying was discussed.

as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in
the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men….when thou prayest,
enter into thy closet and when thou has shut thy door, pray to thy Father which
