ELLSWORTH, Maine — Police in Hancock County are asking for the public’s help identifying a young man considered a “person of interest” in a string of motor vehicle burglaries in Dedham over the weekend.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and the Bangor Police Department released four surveillance camera photos taken Sunday morning at a Bangor convenience store that show a young man in a hooded shirt as well as one of a vehicle.
A total of nine motor vehicle burglaries were reported in Dedham between Saturday night and Monday, with the majority apparently occurring between Saturday night and Sunday morning. Police said prescription medications, a digital camera, an iPod, a credit card and other items were stolen from the vehicles.
Anyone with information is asked to call Deputy Christopher Thornton with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office at 667-7575 or 460-2413. Callers may remain anonymous, if desired. Anonymous tips can also be left on the Bangor Police Department’s Tip Line at 947-7382, ext. 6.

This says four surveillance photos were released, there are only three shown.
The best way to keep vermin away is to not leave food around. Why are people still leaving this type of stuff in their (often unlocked) cars?
I agree, and LOCK your vehicles!!!
If someones gonna steal it a lock is not going to keep them out, they will break windows, jimmy locks, etc to break in and take what they want. Its there a saying…something like….a lock only keeps an honest man out…or something like that….
Lemme guess….you don’t lock you car
If you go after your comprehensive or home owner’s insurance, the first two questions they ask are : was the car locked and who locked it. Of course, the thief looks to see if anything is there worth stealing first. Don’t leave stuff laying around is the better insurance.
Just a suggestion for whomever releases these photos in the future:
Zoom in on the face more (crop out the other stuff like doors and signs, adjust the brightness, sharpen them up a tad). It would really help.
@mummashell:disqus , why would anyone break a car window for an ipod. That would ruin the rest of the car shopping experience, and possibly hurt themselves.
Most people who engage in car burglaries go for the “easy targets”. Cars that are unlocked, windows down, etc. They will not break windows or gimmy locks. Don’t you people do your research before posting on these types of articles?
