PITTSFIELD, Maine — A manhunt is under way for a man suspected of robbing the Rite Aid pharmacy on Somerset Avenue on Thursday evening.
Pittsfield police and personnel from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department and the Maine State Police converged at the scene about 7:30 p.m. A state police tracking dog was requested.
Few details were available Thursday night. The robbery remains under investigation.
Thursday’s Rite Aid robbery was the second in six months at the same location.
In October of last year, the pharmacy was robbed by a man who reportedly got away with prescription drugs. In that case, the suspect entered the store wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a tan baseball hat, sunglasses, black pants and black gloves and gave the pharmacist a note demanding prescription drugs and a bag, Pittsfield police Sgt. Timothy Roussin said at that time.
Though the robber did not claim to have a gun, the pharmacist told police he believed the robber might be armed because of a bulge under his clothing and the manner in which he was behaving, Roussin said.
The robber, described as a white male between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall and of medium build, remains at large.

Really what is it with Rite Aids, i always say the motto of rite aid is save were prices are right
There are more Rite Aids than CVS’s, I guess. Hopefully they catch him soon.
They sure do seem to be targets, unreal.
Sooo they’re looking for the same person they’ve been looking for??
I can’t believe the Presque Isle Rite-Aid hasn’t been hit yet given the riff-raff that can be seen at any given time. Though the circus is in town, so anything can happen. I’m not really sure how these morons can think that they eventually will get away with this crap. You can wrap a hoodie from here to there and everywhere, put on your cheap sunglasses………you still run your mouth when you get high from the drugs you just stole and someone talks. End of story.
Rite Aids across the state have been robbed a lot over the past few years. I think its about time Rite Aid started hiring security, or installing bullet proof glass. Its getting ridiculous.
My daughter is a pharmacist. Believe me, they are not looking to be part of “heroics.” They have spouses and kids like anyone else. Very few pharmacist, techs or store employees have been hurt in these robberies. Nobody wants an armed secuirty guard to shoot it out, and bullet proof glass will merely make hostages out of employees not protected behind the pharmacy glass. On top of that-the insurance companies want to protect employees and customers. I think Rite-Aids are hit a lot due to their locations in smaller Maine towns.
Agreed! When are they going to spend the few dollars necessary to protect their employees?
If they’re waiting for someone to get killed before they care enough, I’ll start the biggest boycott a drugstore chain has ever seen.

Right. Its all about reputation. Rite Aid should send a message across that they have ramped up security. I agree with @westshores:disqus that no amount of money, or pharmaceuticals are worth the safety or life of an employee. But it seems like Rite Aids have been getting robbed a lot because the thieves are feeling more confident that they wont get caught. I think the presence of an armed guard would deter most people and make customers feel safer. With all the stories of Rite Aid geting robbed, they’re probably losing a lot of customers. I mean who’d want to go to a store that constantly gets robbed?
