HERMON – Virginia Mae (Frost) Munn, 87, passed away peacefully May 3, 2012. She was born Dec. 22, 1924, in Hermon, daughter of Freeman L. Frost Sr. and Hattie M. Frost.

She was a graduate of Hermon High School, class of 1944. Virginia was the wife of the late Walter J. Munn Sr., with whom she had 60 wonderful years. She was a lifelong resident of Hermon. She worked for many years at Eastern Maine Medical Center and Ross Home. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Hermon Baptist Church for many years and later became a member of First Baptist Church of Bangor. Virginia was a member of Eastern Star Rebekah Lodge, Hermon Garden Club, Hermon Historical Society and a member of Soldiers Monument Committee. She and her husband, Walter and family members founded Hermon Family Restaurant and Pumpkin Patch RV Resort. Virginia and Walter enjoyed traveling across the country and were members of Holiday Rambler Club. She loved sewing, painting, quilting and gardening.

Virginia is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Carter and husband, James, of Hermon, and Mary Trott and husband, Robert, of Caddo Mills, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Gloria Munn of Etowah, N.C.; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Wiles and husband, Fred; one brother, Phillip Frost Sr. and wife, Donna; nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Walter J. Munn Sr., Virginia was predeceased by her son, Walter J. Munn Jr.; granddaughter, Deborah Carter; one sister, Louise Frost; and two brothers, Freeman Frost Jr. and Thomas Frost. Virginia’s family thanks the staff at Woodlands, Brewer, and Beacon Hospice for their care and support.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, with the Rev. Stephanie Salinas, pastor of First Baptist Church of Bangor, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service Monday at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor. Interment will be at Pine Tree Cemetery, Hermon.
